I've just finished the game with my friend (hell we used UHS in the end, we couldn't take it anymore... we solved most of it ourselves...)

I ain't played Schizm, but as myst, short for mystery, is a misspelling of mist, schizm was probably derived from the word schism meaning a division or to divide, usually into groups - i don't know much of the plot but maybe that fits?

How on earth did you manage to solve the two panel puzzles near the end....I've not played the game in ages cause I can't get past that point. It's bad enough to try to beat them once, but to do it twice each (not only that, to also have to do in one time right after the other) is insane!

Paula, are you talking about the "coordinates" in the living ship?

When you get the "fake coordinates" and you need to adjust them into new ones? That's what you're talking about?

If you want, I can give you a thorough explenation... it took us ages to finish this puzzle, it was the hardest in my opinion.

Or maybe the triangle one was...

Anyway, just give me a signal and I'll explain if you want. But how did you avoid using a walkthrough all this time?!?

It's been so long since I tried to play until I may be confused, but I think there were two of these panels. I can't remember exactly where I was but I don't think I was on the living ship. If memory serves, completing the panels are required to lower the bridges so that you can continue to travel on the rail. The puzzle is randomly generated and as you click on a spot on the panel the computer generates a block. The object is to get a solid line of power from one side of the panel to the other. Complete the puzzle once and the bridge lowers halfway down, then you must sucessfully complete it again in order to lower the bridge all the way down.

A Schism is a split in a religious sect, or any form of religion. thats where they got the name SchiZm from. some people had different impressions about Matia, i dont exactly remember what, but i think some thought matia would end the world, or something, and yes, ive beaten it, and the end is very bad.

Actually, the whole plot kinda sucks, not to mention the acting there...

Can't blame them though... Norwigian people forced into english acting... oh well...

Paula, that's where you got stuck?!? I'm really sorry if it sounds a bit errogant (errogent? ummm... no... yes!.... dunno), but there are impossible puzzles over there!

This puzzle you're talking about is simply about trying like 20 times, you'll do it eventually, you'll get the trick...

You probably didn't beat it cuz it's not really logical, or smart, or anything... just a bunch of clicking...

Thanks for the encouragement. I did read somewhere that if you paid attention when you solved it the first time, you could solve it again with the exact same moves. The only problem is....I haven't be able to solve it ONCE since reading that....

Oh well, if I get really, really bored I'll give it another go.

Personally I've avoided Schizm like the plague, I don't know a person alive who actually enjoyed it so that was enough for me.

I did, but only because I played it with my friend and we:

1) Really broke our heads on it (Umm... is there such an expression? There is one on my language...)

2) We laughed so hard about the acting in the game...

We have like 20 jokes about it...

And besides, we keep saying "Schizm" all the time for no reason cuz I find this word totally funny. Dont figure me out, I dont get it myself.

Awwww why not? The graphics are good, and there are some rather nice cut scenes and things. Yeah, the puzzles really have no logic, and if you are the kind of player that just has to do it without a hint, maybe the game isn't for you, cuz you get no real help or clues from the contents. But if you like graphics, and unconscious humor, it's a good laugh, and the graphics are fun. Those two panels that Paula was talking about are frustrating at best, but a little experimentation will show you the way to proceed.
