Anybody else as excited as I am? Hard to believe we've been waiting nearly five years (since late December, 2001) for a new entry in the series (somehow I just can't count FF Online or X-2). If you're looking for a new excuse to explain my rarity on Live, this will be it (at least until Gears of War comes out next week)...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I want to be excited... after like 3 years of waiting the anticipation has trickled away. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I think it started bleeding when I first tried the combat though. It's just not the same.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

No, Jinx... it really has been too long. Still, Final Fantasy and the Chrono games are the only traditional Japanese RPGs that get me goin'. There's just something about those franchises...

Ah, Magiz, I wouldn't fret too much. Like you pointed out, I'll be lost to Gears of War come next week, and R6: Vegas soon thereafter. There are just too many good timesinks (err, games) on the horizon. Something tells me it's going to take a while for me to get through FF XII, what with all these distractions...

Call me a loser but it has been 5 years since a Final Fantasy (a rightfully numbered one) was released so I am TOTALLY going to the GameStop party tonight at 12. Yes!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yikes. There goes my hard earned 40 dollars from this weekend's poker games, lol. I am very fascinated about this game because I've been reading many reviews and many hardcore fans raved that it even tops Final Fantasy VI. That is quite a bold statement to make!

AND I still have to buy Gears of War, too. :/

How much more expensive is the collectors' edition, Sushi?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

the guys voice on the history of Final Fantasy sounds very familiar...and annoying http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif..actually..you know the endings in tekken 5(and maybe 4)? that robotic monotone type voice. THAT's it!

Being only a few hours in, I can't of course give an overall verdict in comparing it to the other games in the series.

But I am sure those that claim it is "omfg the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" this early after u.s. release are simply running off the hype and excitement of finally playing the game.

However, even though I am still going strong at 4:30 a.m and loving every minute of it...it will take a hell of a lot to knock off part 6.

lol, I know, I find this very hard to accept. I am just going to have to play through FFXII and make an assessment. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif FFX impressed me very much (my second favorite FF), so I am hoping I won't be disappointed with this one.

I got the limited edition too, woo hoo! I just watched the bonus DVD, and boy, did THEY hug Cid's nuts to the extreme! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif I guess he's kind of a big deal!

P.S. I was SO happy that the DVD mentioned FFVI's Opera Scene as the "defining moment of the FF series". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Well, if the beginning is any indication...

I am already confronted with the story of oppression, resistance, and treachery ... an epic in the making? This is one "fantasy" quality that has been missing in Final Fantasy games for a very long time.

I, for one, can't wait how the game unfolds. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'm excited!

SUPERB graphics so far (even better than FFX/FFX-2, amazingly), and they did an OUTSTANDING job with the voice acting. Clearly a step up from FFX/FFX2... and if the voice acting quality remains constant throughout the game, it'll immerse me in the story even more... something that no previous FFs has ever done to me. The narration, done in "memoirs" style, is definitely a creative approach.

Oh, and the setting kinda gives me a "Star Wars" vibe to it... in a good way!

Takes getting used to the battle system though... seems a bit weird and at this point, I'm starting to miss the turn-based battles of yesteryears. :/

Actually, some people (including 4 friends of mine who are either Japanese, or can read Japanese) have already played this game, as they have imported it. They have been discussing about the game for months now, and I refused to read what they talk about in blogs, for fear of spoilers. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

But these are the same friends who share my belief that FFVI is the best in the series... and are now similarly holding FFXII in high regard, so who knows...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I've only played for about two hours so far, but from what I've seen: THIS GAME IS GOOOOD!!! Despite its complexity, the story is told in such a way as to really draw in the player. I'm also a huge fan of the new combat system. I can't wait to delve further!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

See, I'm so torn on this title. I may be torn as to whether or not I will like it, but I'm definitely going to use my employee discount over at Gamestop on this. My manager says he really doesn't like it because of the battle system, and the lack of random battles. I was never into random battles, as they pissed me off when I just wanted to move on in the story (I would always fight though, never run, because I wanted the xp). So who knows, I might really like this one. The last one I really enjoyed was X, and then before that, VIII. The battle systems were never the reason why I played the games anyway, so I'm thinking this is going to be two thumbs up with me (even though I complained a lot about the series before previously, if you remember my FF thread from a while ago).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
