To merely call it a lizard is a travesty. This is a bearded dragon and was named Reilly by my wife and kids. We have had him for about 2 years. One of my sons took these photos today and I thought that I would share them here.
Reilly really loves sitting on my shoulder as he can warm up nicely there.
I have yet to fly Il2 with him on my shoulder. I may try it sometime.
My household is more aquarium/terrarium oriented these days although in the past we did have a dog which didn't work out too well.
We had a cat we really liked. We may get another one.

Oh, very cool! My son's always wanted a bearded dragon, how is he to keep? My wife had an iguana, which went well until the cat got interested, and I had a veiled chamelion, which worked pretty well.

When I saw the title I thought this was a thread about the best (drunk) pick up lines. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Aha! I was wondering who would spot that. I always wear it, even at home. That way I am not grabbing it before I walk out the door.
I don't go anywhere without it.
It holds an HK USP 45.

Sweet!, but tell me how affectionate are they? not like a dog or cat? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

You don't get that feeling of returning affection, no. But he does really appreciate the literal warmth of the body heat when he lays on you, and he does respond with eye contact when you talk to him. All in all it is pretty neat for a lizard.

What happened? Did Reilly eat the cat? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I happened to notice the stack of books to my right in the photo.
For those interested, this is the book on the top. I have used the material in this book many times here on this forum.

It is the best book I have ever read regarding WW2 fighters and their machine guns and cannon.
I also have a similar book, Flying Guns of World War One. Very good books.
More info on the book here.

Unfortunately, while I was at CMTC, Hohenfehls Germany, our beloved cat mysteriously disappeared. We never really knew what happened to her.

As Choctaw said they can't really compare. The body-contact/affection thing is really a strictly mammalian trait. You'll find something similar in birds (comes with being hot-blooded I suppose), the reptiles simply do not have the required nervous tracks.

IMHO, they're more or less fish on legs. Don't expect cheerful companions. I guess their thoughts when they see their master just sum up to "too big to swallow".

That was very funny. I never thought of it like that before.

I think that is awesome, i'm fascinated with these sorts of beasts, probably because i've never owned such an exotic pet.

My landlord wont allow any pets where i am at the moment, but one day....

It depends a bit on the species. Some of the reptiles are a bit brighter than others (agamids like Cocktaws Pogona and varanids among them). They'll probably be able to recognise it's owner as "big thing that won't eat me", and "big thing that sometimes bring food". From an intelligence and evolutionary point of view they fall midway between a goldfish and chicken. Now, amphibians on the other hand, that's really fish with legs.
