Hi all,
I use GWX and there are loads of radio messages. Most of the time there are coodinates telling me of a ship needing help or somthing like that. How do I track those coodinates> I know I use the greenwhich latitude and longditude which are both on the map, but the parralls are not there! how do I get those?
For instance, the 38th parralel, (Vietnam) How do I find (((40.23N 40.63E)))

thx for all feedback! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hi Mantock

The radio messages are just there for added historic immersion, i.e. they do not relate to any actual events recreated in the game.

The ones to watch out for are the radio messages that appear directly in the message area (at the bottom of the screen, where the crew order responses are also displayed) - if you get one that says something like "Large Convoy / Task Force spotted in AM54, heading WNW!". Those reports are 'real' and are usually accompanied by a corresponding marker on the navigation map. Make a note of the time, and draw a long line from the marker in the direction of the indicated heading. You can then plot an estimated interception course, based on the reported speed of the target (usually provided in the message too), and how long it will take your U-boat will take to intercept the predicted course - ahead of where the convoy ought to be after the same length of time.

I always guess the interception point by eye: if the convoy is reported as 'slow', then the speed is usually around 4-5 knots; my U-boat's max surface speed is around 16-17 kts, so I know I can travel roughly four times further than the convoy in the same time. Ensuring the line from my U-boat to that interception point is less than 4 times longer than the line from the convoy to the same point, I stand a fair chance of finding the target...

Oh, rats! lol
thats annoying! It would be really good to have dynamic radio broadcasts like that. and you could actually intercept events and stuff.
Well, thanks for the tip.
I actually looked on the GWX manual and it said 120 kilometers is one angle, so by that I could find out the lat and long.thx
