I've been a huge fan of this show from the very beginning. However, I was more than a little disappointed when they found all that theatrical garb in the abandoned compound. Maybe these "others" are really just actors? Who knows. It does seem like the more they show, the more they reveal, the more this show starts to lose its luster.

Anyways, I have a huge choice to make starting next week. Sci-Fi's show "Ghost Hunters" moves to Wednesday nights, in the same timeslot as "Lost". I really do not want to be forced to have to choose between these shows, but I don't know if I can give up Ghost Hunters. (I had a pretty scary ghostly encounter several weeks ago, so I know there's stuff out there).

LOL, sure do. Actually I just have a handfull of shows that I watch on a regular basis. 24, Lost, Prison Break, GhostHunters, Sopranos, and yes - American Idol. Also love Mythbusters, and assorted shows on the History, Discovery, and National Geographic channels. NG just had a pretty good bio about Blackbeard, I might get that on DVD.

I have been so happy that iTunes carries Lost. Most of my friends here in SF don't have TVs, but I have been able to get them all addicted through the power of the beautiful interweb.

AWESOME EPOISODE LAST NIGHT!!! And can you believe there will be a all new ep. next week? How exciting!!

I tivoed Lost so I didnt have to watch the commerical in the mean time I watch American Idol (poor lil Kevin) and the new show unanimous. Anyone happen to catch this show? It's only 30 minutes but I can see myself getting attached to this show as well.

Dammit, I got tied up playing Oblivion, and missed it last night. What happened? I was kind of let down after they found the theatrical makeup.

Also, next week marks the return of "Ghost Hunters". I really hope they do what they did last year, and show the previous week's episode before the new one - this way I'll be able to catch both shows.

YAY, a "Lost" thread!!!

I got the first season on DVD and watched all the episodes back-to-back. Then, Valkyrie drags me to her house so SHE can watch it too. (But for some reason, Brooklyn told Valk ALL about the season 2 plot!!!) Valk comes to me, *blah* vomits all the details out and now I know all about the second season and I haven't even seen it yet!!!

*stares at Brooke* http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

So now I wait for Season 2 DVD release... less impatiently as before.

seppuku_FD
03-27-2006, 05:19 PM
since it's already been spoiled, you should just switch to something more worth while. like Desperate Housewives. just as much mystery that actually gets resolved.

I have yet to find a person who can completely ruin a whole season of Lost. There's so much info I highly doubt she told you EVERYTHING. There's just so much going on.

Brimtown
03-29-2006, 09:57 PM
I just hate it when they take a show that I really, really love and move it to a night where it's opposite another show I really love. Why do they insist on doing this to us? It's almost as if they're saying "You know, this other show is really popular. Let's move our show to the same night and compete against them, and force viewers to choose between us".

seppuku_FD
03-29-2006, 10:49 PM
awesome episode. i thought they were going to reveal how locke ends up in a wheelchair.

MuttonChopYaz
03-31-2006, 04:47 AM
I was afraid they were going to cripple Locke again. /whew

An another note, I've been watching season one on DVD, and I noticed the first non-pilot episode's name was Tabula Rasa. I vaugely remember my Sociology class from high school, and couldn't remember what it meant, so I looked it up. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabula_rasa)

Then, as I continued to read, I found John Locke's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Locke) name and it all came back to me.

Coincidence? I think not.

Ghengis_John
03-31-2006, 05:03 AM
I didn't know the episode was acalled tabula rasa, but I was wondering about the significance of naming John Locke, John Locke. I thought this was gonna be the "how John ends up in a wheelchair" episode too. I thought his dad was gonna screw him over, he'd say "Check out how much money this guy has" to the criminal heavies and the goons were going to beat him so bad he'd never walk again.

MuttonChopYaz
03-31-2006, 01:36 PM
Well, Locke seems to be the guy who thinks everyone gets a second chance/blank slate on the "magic island of death and confusion." His mentality fits the "tabula rasa" philosophy, in part.

I doubt it gets any deeper than that. Then again....

Yeah that was cool as hell BUT what does it do for the story? I wasn't too much of a fan of this episode. Ok, fine, Hurly is crazy and eats to feel better. NO KIDDING!! How does that explain everything else thats going on on this freakin Island. So two more people crossed paths in the past. Great. They still could have done more as far as the story line that everyone wants to know about. The Island. And when homey at the end told Locke that he didn't push the button.... Why should we believe him? He lied so many times before, there is nothing that makes you want to believe him now.

Now the previews for the next episode, THATS what I want to see. They talk about Walt, and it seems that you find out more about the others and who exactly they got in custody.

This past episode had it moments but as a whole, BOOOOOOO.

I wanna know how they can go from such a good episode about finding out "henrys" identiy to doing one on hurley eating food and being in a mental hospital. This episode had the potential to be great for lost until they messed it up by switching the main story line to hurley and dave.

But still that women on the plain was in the mental hospital to but hurley dosent know, I wonder what her part in this is.

Claire had all of her lines in the first season. Now, she's just an annoying reminder that life sucks just that much more, even on a haunted, magic desert island.

Every time you walk back into camp, you're always thinking, "Is she going to be freaking out again when I get there?"

I knew it! He told Locke that he didn't push the button just to screw with him! Now you have Locke banging on the door asking if he really did push it or not, and this guy sitting in there with this arse-eating grin on his face.

And what's the big deal with Rose's husband wanting to put a big SOS signal on the beach? I don't understand her opposition, and it gives them something to work on. I don't see where it could really hurt anything.

It was definitely a lot better at the beginning, when you had no idea what the heck was going on. You had this wierd island, with this "monster" that some thought was a dinosaur of sorts, this group of people called the "Others" who were supposed to be really terrifying, polar bears, and this mysterious hatch that nobody could get into. This island also has some sort of healing powers, as evidenced by Locke's handicap and Rose's cancer being cured.

The way Henry spoke of the "others" leader, he sounds like a Jim Jones cult leader type. This could be a possibility with Michael, or as was posted earlier he is being forced to do these things through the promise of getting walt back.
The DHARMA Inititve is a scientific orginazation and this whole island is part of the experiment. The map on the blast door showed all of the other hatchs around the island, which are in a circular pattern btw. They probably all contain the giant magnetic generators like the hatch that Locke found, and when fired up at the same time are most likely what causes all of the crashs on the island. Deliberate, or side affect from testing?
On the subject of hidden background images. Did anyone notice in the season 1 episode with the raft that there is a scene with a shark swimming by in the water that has a DHARMA group logo tattooed onto its body. Trained security sharks?
I hate the Hurley episode. It hurt my head with that twisty ending. Of course there will probably be no resolution to it now that libby is dead.

Cool, I just watched last week's episode of "Lost" on ABC's website. Didn't get to watch tonight's episode, I was busy watching GhostHunters, but I'll catch it later.

As far as why Michael talking about the setup of the Others' camp, it does seem like he's probably setting them up. I'm sure that he told the truth when he described the camp, with the tents, teepees, and the other hatch. Maybe he even told the truth when he said how many there were. But as far as them being lightly armed, let's just say that I have a feeling that's not entirely accurate.

So I didn't really miss too much when I switched over to the NBC show?

Also, the hatch that Locke & Eko found was the central observation hatch. When they turned on the first monitor, they were able to see Jack walking around their hatch. HELLO - did they not even think to check the other monitors, to see what might be going on in the other hatches? Considering that the Others might be using a hatch for their base, maybe that would have been a good idea?

WTF? Anyone want to try to explain the ending of this one? Somehow Desmond's ex-girlfriend is involved in this whole thing?

Overall, I think last season's ending was more dramatic and shocking than this year's. I think we all pretty much expected something to go wrong with Jack's merry band of adventurers. This episode just helped further my opinion of Michael, that he's a scum-sucking traitor pig.

The real shocker was that Henry was actually the leader of the Others. Snap!

okay. Good morning. Last night had some pretty good things about it and some pretty sh!tty things about it. Lets start with the poop. Too many questions that need answers at the end that we have to wait 4 months for. Almost ending it with two characters that no one cares about kissing also sucked. ALso, are we all of a sudden isupposed to care about Desmond? After ONE episode? Where's Jin, Sun, and Sayid? That good stuff? Well kind of good stuff? We can still hate Michael for being a snitch but I feel he'll be back to get rid of that guilt. We get to see more of the others and what they're about because you KNOW that Jack, Sawyer and Kate wont stand for their **** (well sawyer at least). And who else thinks that "Henry" is really the leader as far as the "others" go?

Captain JeB
05-25-2006, 09:30 AM
I don't think that Henry is the leader, I think that Pennys Dad might be.

MuttonChopYaz
05-25-2006, 04:35 PM
Well, it sure appeared that he was the leader.

I read something scary in Entertainment magazine. One of the writers said they were confident they could go at least five seasons and "keep people interested." The other said he understood we want an end to this, and used a stupid war/exit-strategy analogy, but didn't allude to a certain time.

So... who knows? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Brimtown

I think it does appear that Henry is the leader, which makes it all the more interesting. All this time, they had the leader of the Others in their hatch! Of course, I'm sure there is probably someone else higher up, but Henry seems to be the leader on the island at least.

It's going to be interesting to see what the long-term effects of not pushing the button are. I loved the look on Locke's face when he said "I was wrong." It has to be more than just the blinding white flash and intense humming sound, maybe pushing the button is what kept the island isolated from the entire world? Perhaps there was some sort of giant electromagnetic force field around the island, which kept the outside world out, and everyone on the island from escaping. When Desmond didn't push the button in time, it allowed a brief hole in the shield to open, which caused the plane to crash. At least, that's my current theory.

Eko and Locke will live. (Or at least Locke will)
Right after Locke Says "I was wrong" it cuts to Desmond turning the key. During that cut, a time lapse occurred and I think Eko and Locke had time to escape.

Also Charlie did not seem concerned when they had not returned to camp indicating that he may have seen them escape.

Good episode , but more questions then answers!

It amazes me that during the course of this, nobody mentions the other obvious things that happened. 1.) A pre-psycho ward Libby gives Desmond the boat he sails on and returns him again to the island where she died. (husband and wife re-united?) 2.) Penny shows up right before desmond meets jack and states that with her money and resources, she can find anything. ( Her dad sponsered the boat race, she probably was tracking desmond when a previous EMP caused him to dissappear. so she probably set up the team to watch that area of the ocean for a reaccurance of the event.)
3.The remains of a gigantic statue that looked like ancient greek style with four perfectly spaced toes.(Ancient alien god?)
4.) Is libby really dead? Is she one of the others? She has appeared so far in three situations with people who are on the island, and will probably appear in more next season.
5.) So far, most of the people on the island from the plane or otherwise are connected to each other and do not know it. But the "others" do.
6.) We learned that the Pearl is also an elaborite hoax and was probably being watched from another location Hense the mountain of filled notebooks.

So, what have we learned? Well, (1)the island is definatly an experiment into the mass variety of human nature and reaction to extreme unknown situations.
(2)The experiments are being conducted by humans?, Aliens? Or both in collusion.
(3) The button definatly recycles the energy powering the "forcefield surrounding the island that is keeping it hidden from the outside world. The blinding light could have been the forcefield becoming opaque ie: visible to the human eye. A force field is a "Hard light" projection after all. This would also jibe with Henrys statement to Michael that he would never find his way back to the island.
(4) Considering that the "others" know so much about everyone on the island including Sawyers real name( never revealed before now)They have been watching them for some time and speculativly could have had some involvement with past generations of thier families. U.F.O. abductions usually according to case histories happen over generations within a family. The statue hints that this has been going on for a long time. The only question is.....why?
The writers definatly have a plan for this series and are not flying by the seat of thier pants as some people think. They have stated that they want this show to run for 5 years.
J.M. Strazynski created Babylon five to run for 5 years and alot of shows have since been formatted to fall into that type of timeframe.

Of course, i could be completely wrong.

If you'll remember, in the airport in Sydney they wouldn't let him load the body until he filled out some paperwork. I never saw that happen. I think some baggage handlers probably dumped the corpse and put the casket on the plane so the flight would leave on time.
