Help my computer freezes

Well since my computer did not have a DVD drive in my computer I borrowed one and put in my computer and Windows XP excepted and so on. I installed the game with no flaws but when I double click on the short cut my computer begins to start the program a tab appears in the start menu and a small white square appears on my desktop and then my computer freezes. I have a Radeon 9600 updated. But I cant find the problem please help

Got your pm....the only thing I can suggest is to try reinstalling it...or let it sit and see if it opens at all...or update your motherboard drivers..and the firmware for the dvd drive.

I actually did let it try and open went to the library for an hour and then came back and it didnt do a thing it just stayed the same. If Im going to have to update my motherboard drivers and my firmware how would I go about locating them on my computer and updating them
