I don't know if it's in the game but some Belgian comedian taught me this word. And if it's not in the game they should really put it in there... EIN SCHMETTERLING!
Sounds.. pretty agressive and dangerous doesn't it?

Acctually, I do speak german and I have to say sometimes it really helps to understand what the germans are saying. For example if you hear "Ich werfe eine Granate"(I'm throwing a grenade) you know you have to get the hell out of there. Or if you shoot at a german from a long range and are not sure whether you hit or missed, it's always useful to hear, "Er ist getroffen"(he's hit).

Hmmm. I don`t know the language, though I`ve visted Germany a few times. Sure, German sounds relatively calm in civilian life. But under war conditions aren`t all languages going to sound more rough? They have to shout and bark orders, just like the Americans and Brits. They are hardly going to be soften spoken.
I also notice in BIAHH some German voices actually sound quite weak or young among the stronger voices.
A German I know says that Hitler bastardised the way Germans would normally speak in those times too, causing a much harsher tone to the language. I dunno how right he is, though he is about 50 years old.

i am a german and i play , his game because i like the worldwar 2 setting (don't understand me wrong
and the realism of BIA. In other games you can run in and kill everybody, here you need tactic! But i hate it when i see that the germans are so stupid in this games. Why they dont threw a grenade back or use theier "bazooka" . In the scenes of the 88' the german soldier looks like an barbar, why? They do the same like the allies, i dont think that all german soldier really want to fight for hitler but in this games(in all these games) the german are ALWAYS the stupid and ugly soldiers. This isnt realistic. I dont think that the german soldiers were so stupid in fighting in the ww2 cause it was the hell there but in this american games always the allies are the good ant the germans the bad guys. But both sides are fighting for their state. When we can play a game as a German all people, politicans and other idiots would say, "well nice nazis these producers". this is the poor world

I agree here. Just finished the game and was annoyed at how stupid the Germans are in the game. They don`t counter-attack and just wait to die. They don`t use grenades, everyone knows they had greandes.
Also the Germans were great proponent of attacking back and not just waiting to get killed. Let`s not forget that in the real thing a bunch of Veteran experienced German Troops from the Russian front were taking a rest there. These guys were bad-asses and knew their job. I was hoping later in the game to meet tough attacking guys like these.
Disappointed not to have been challnged by them at all.
Perhaps Authentic will be better.

what did you expect,it's made by Americans, they lost the operation and it probably still haunts them just like with the Vietnam war, that's why there are so few games about these operations,i have read stories from old veterans, including one British soldier who got separated while (i think) they where retreating at the end of Market Garden,he ran into a bunch of German soldiers, the German officer saluted him and they marched on!There sure where some cruel ones around in their army, those where the real fanatics, but in the Wehrmacht they mostly had the normal German soldier, civilians, mostly drafted or they joined by own free will.
But on www.marketgarden.com (http://www.marketgarden.com) you can read those veterans stories from british and german soldiers.

Hitler did make it sound pretty rough. Keep in mind he wasn't German so he had a slightly different dialect. And I know in war people shout but I meant in general.
