Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips for playing Assassin's Creed on Xbox 360?

I'm currently on my second assassination, working my way through Acre. The simple fact I'm IN the Town is merely by a glinch as I have been unable to save the initial citizen and get in! After being killed 12 times, I gave up, switched off the game...only to find, when I next went to play, it started me from inside the Bureau.

I'm having the following difficulties -

1) Stealth Assassinations - I've pulled off stealth attacks in the past but now I'm finding that when I try to lock on to my target, I'm spotted and surrounded!! On average I approach in Blend, which I have to release in order to Lock on...once locked on, I blend once more and slowly approach. I can get close to my target but as soon as I go to strike, I'm spotted and they counter!! What am I doing wrong?

2) Saving Citizens - It seems I can only save about half the amount. This is somewhat in conjuction with the previous one. I've been trying to use a Stealth attack to take down one man, however, they spot me and swarm me. I've tried the gun ho approach and stormed in, sword swinging and slicing...only to get the same result (fleeing for my life...or losing it!!)
Any advice?

3) Free running/Escaping - When trying to escape multiple attackers, I find it really difficult to escape...there can be a clear exit right in front of me...but despite my commands to run, he stands and 'fights'. I assumed this was down to being 'locked on'...so I made a point of pressing LT before attempting to peg it. No difference! It's a little big-headed of me to say this but I can't see that I'm pressing the wrong command...It's my favourite one!! What other factors could be involved?

4) Informers - Is that even the right term?? The ones who appear on the GPS as an 'i'? I understand they require you to perform certain things before they give you any information but...how do you interact with them in the first place? Normally, I get hints or alerts to say I can interact with someone...Have I got the wrong person or am I being blind?

EDIT - I've found lots of advice about using the short blade. How do I select it if left if long sword, up is hidden blade, down is fists and left is throwing knives?

Any further advice for beating up multiple attackers would be greatly received - I've done the fighting tutorials and been alright but now damage is involved, I'm a dead man!!

Thanks muchly!

There are a lot of factors that involve survivability. My first trip through the game (I am still not finished - on memory block 5 starting) - my Synch bar is almost full. I did this by killing some Templars, but most of all by completing every single mission. I do not stop at the minimum of 2 missions. This way I am able to survive longer fights.

My suggestion is go back to the kingdom area an practice this move on guards....

1. blend
2. keep your finger on the blend button, get right next to the guard and with your hidden blade hit X button
3. Your finger should still be on the A button for bled, so you are immedately back to not being notied.

Then try this on saving citizens. You do not need any of the people beating up citizens locked on. Just make sure they are highlighted.

For normal combat, make certain you are using dodge / counter attack moves as well. Do these with short blade. Counter attacks have saved me many times.

Hope this helps.

Here's some of the things I do, hope it helps.

1) Stealth - Don't even LT target the victim, just walk up behind him/her and X. Make sure no guards are walking around you or staring right at you when you pull these off.

2) Saving - Jump on a ledge, use throwing knives, LT target the guy with the shiniest armor, then fire away. I normally kill all of them with range before they can get me. If reinforcement comes, then I normally fight them. If you don't want to fight, jump on a tall building and just grab/throw (RT+B when not targeted, B targeted) them off the top and they'll die.

3) Free running - When guards are in fight stance, either run away or just tackle them. There's not much I can help you here. Just run and do the grab/throw on building thing if you have to. The best thing here is just to get better at combo/counter.

4) Informer - These assassin buddies can be LT targeted. Some give you assassination tasks and some give you flag collecting tasks. The time limit for these tasks range from 3-5 minutes. They are extremely frustrating at first but you'll get use to it.

MULTI ATTACKER - Do the building throwing thing if you are really desperate. I'm a good fighter, so normally I counter kill about 1/2 of... like a 5-8 group then combo kill the rest with ease. I've done all the side quests before assassinations so I had a full sync bar at like memory block 4. I suggest practicing at Damascus Poor or courtyard.

Hey this is if you are getting exposed to easily. I just copied it from a post I did Early on a different Thread.
The link post 4 it should be so you know I didn't take someone else's credit!
This also is helping you with the Informer Missions mainly but does tell you about some ways on not being exposed during the game.

The best way to kill them is using the hidden blade. You already should know this. As you are walking to a target. Once they are close on your GPS use Eagle View to find the target. (Will be flashing Yellow, if can't see any1 flashing yellow try again but closer.) Try and get to the targets as quietly as possible. DOES NOT REQUIRE TO BLEND! When you are near a target, well you obviously know what to do, assassinate them. Try not to do it from front on and bumping into your targets or guards will expose you. Usually in these Informer missions to get information, beggars will beg you for money. Ether leave them(which get really annoying,) or push them out of the way. Be careful when pushing them away because you could draw attention to yourself. But if you're getting detected to easily. Try to avoid walking back in the direction of where you have assassinated someone and avoid climbing buildings. Sometimes there is a target on a building and it will be easy to tell because on your GPS they will be on top of a building. Try and get these guys first. Another reason why you might be getting exposed is because your sprinted/free running a lot. Only do that when there is about a minute left with a target to kill and they are far away. But be careful not to run back over dead bodies etc.

My last reason that you might be getting exposed is because when you actually get exposed you kill a lot of guards. (Just assuming.) If you kill a lot of guards in an area where your target was, the bodies remain there for a good 10-15minutes before they dissapear. This will draw your targets to the bodies to check it out. The guards will be more alerted and wont let suspicions go. If they suspect you, your exposed. But if your target is checking dead bodies out. Be really careful getting to him if you decide to walk through the bodies or if you decide to throw a knife at him be careful as well because you notice in the game when you target someone 70% of the time, if you're close they detect you.
