Hey guys whats going on? I was playing SH3 this afternoon and was cruising around the AN or Am'ish(?) grid area and as usual i come across this really nice convoy... You know the usual T2-Tankers, 2 C2 cargos, 1 C3 Cargo, Troop Ship... Wow, really nice kill for me...

Of course, i had the 3 Hunt I Destoyers guarding the convoy, so i go deep come up relatively close to the C3 and the T2 tanker, and i launch 4 torpedos, and go deep again...

So im thinking, awesome, i just bagged some nice ships... WRONG

I go back up to periscope depth and see that one of the Hunt I's got right in front of the 2 torpedoes heading for the T2 tanker... The two of them slam right into her, sending her down...

I was thinking, okay, so i got a brave destroyer captain there just trying to save the T2... (He did)

So, i look at my other 2 torps that are heading for the C3, and right there on the right of her, is coming a Hunt I destroyer at 34 knots, right into the path of the 2 torps, and she gets right in front of them and takes two for the team...

Then i got to thinking, isnt this just the craziest thing... LOL

So i ended up bagging two hunt I's and a stupid small merchant ship...

Is this weird or what??

I've seen that happen as well on shallow shots but if you go for mag shots under the hull they run too deep to hit the escorts.

Thats cool, but i think its more likely he didnt see them then blocked them like a bodyguard. Maybe it was too rough or the torps were electrics?

To tell you the truth i use the weapons officer to find me the solution to the targets, so i dont even know how to launch a deep shot or a shallow shot... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

And in terms of the torpedos, im pretty sure it was the electric torpedo that i used in that patrol... Would the electric torpedo have made a difference in terms of the Hunt I's getting in the way of the path??

Sorry for all the dumb questions, but i guess im just trying to see if the AI is really "that good"

They are very unlikely to see an electric torpedo so wont be able to avoid it. This works both ways, if they cant see it to avoid it they are defo not going to be able to see it to get in the way http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It was just unlucky i guess, this can happen with other merchants sometimes too when they panic and cross each other paths, or if you miss and hit one in the line behind (always a happy moment http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

Press F6 to get full control of your torpedoes.

An electric torpedo is invisible. Both types are audible.
