Did you check to see if you have a firewall blocking you?

Do you have cable or DSL internet service?
If you have cable, you can just bypass your router and give that a try.
I wouldn't run it that way too long as it will leave you open to attack.
If you have DSL, and are also using a router, then you are effectively using 2 routers as most DSL modems have builtin routers.
