There was a post regarding cruelty to animals and PETA a while ago. Well, I'm here to talk about another type of cruelty.

Cruelty to plants.

Everyday in the summer, millions of blades of grass are brutally maimed as people mow their lawns. Bushes are dismembered. Babies are ripped right from plant's wombs.

Plants are alive too you know. They have feelings, just like we do. We need to stop this butchering of life on our planet!

I am now going to call upon everyone to protest the mistreatment of plants everywhere you see it!

Sounds like "What Women Want." Sadly, I actually watched that.http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I guess you could plant that Zalia (SP?) grass that grows so slow, you only have to mow once a year. Then, you could just be trimming it, kind of like a haircut.http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Bloody expensive though.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

lol. funny stuff spekkio!!

although one could make the argument that trimming back plants spurs lusher, bushier growth the next season, making the palnts healthier, and things like removing fruit from trees, keeps the fruit from rotting on the tree which attracts insects which can harm the tree, etc..etc... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Nice point. Although plants do have 'something' and can react to dismemberment and stuff, I dont think they're evolutionary advanced enough to raelly have 'emotions'. More like instinct, like targetting the Sun.

Plants are very advanced as for as evelotion goes, more adapted to a lot of stuff then many animals. Emotions aren't exactly needed so they're probably better off without them. But look at me now, defending plants... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Plants are organic mecanism. Not more.

Anyway, they are necessary to life--->Oxygen...

So, we should take care of it.

As I stated before, Plants do not have brains, thus they do not have a nervious system. No Nervous system means no feelings, no pain.

GMO! Zedblade is a nonbeliever. Let's employ the same tactics as PETA to purge the nonbelievers!

Only the trees necessarily.

Wait, I had trouble understanding what that guy was trying to say but are you saying trees are the only plants that really give us oxygen?

Zedblade

Most of the oxygen comes from blu-green algea, not trees.

Spekkio9
02-27-2006, 08:18 PM
Which, I may add, is not a plant.

It is often overlooked, but a majority of oxygen does come from the ocean. Just think of all that area, way more then there is land, and much of it has algae covering the bottom; that's not to say that's all we need. Grasses give lots off lots of oxygen too but an average tree has an area giving off photosynsesis equal to a couple of acres of grass. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well, considering plants evolved from algae... they're close enough.
