Ok.. so I like to host. It saves me the trouble of hopping game to game when my friends arn't on. I have bad luck so I usually end up in a game where I have to play with bad players, annoying players and quitters. Anyway I won't go into that, the fact is I like to host. Now that being said.. if you join someones game.. and play a round.. and the host ends up going 36 - 7 and you go 7 - 14 do NOT start screaming about host advantage. If YOU think host advantage is such a problem then go host your own freaking game or keep your oppinions to yourself. Do not start ranting and raving about how good you would be if you were the host and how bad the host would be if he or she wasn't hosting. No matter how loud you scream, you arn't cool and you certainly arn't going to be in the game long. So.. keep your mouth shut ok? I host. I'm going to keep hosting. And I don't do well because I host. If I just picked up the controller for the first time yesterday and hosted I would not have a score of more then positive 30. So there it is. If you have a problem with host.. host. That or stop playing the game.

I used to have that problem, A LOT. I host most of the time, but when someone complains about host advantage I'll ask them to start a room (if they say they "can't" host at least 8 players, ask them how bad their internet connection is and how much of that resulted in them losing), once they start their room join it and go to town on them. I got two of my best "live buddies" this way, they have no choice but to respect you if/when you score the same in their own room.

Not everybody has a connection capable of hosting. Couple that with the fact that people can't believe that it's possible that others are better them and need to find something to blame it on; hence your problem. It will be there in any game for the rest of time. Get used to it.

I agree with you completely. I'm trying to figure out what my connection is capable of. Last night, I hosted twelve people, and heard no one complain of lag (I even asked). Yet my connection was so taxed, I was skipping around all over the place. In this instance, I didn't feel like hosting was an advantage, it was probably more of a disadvantage.

If you've never hosted, you don't know the difference between hosting and not hosting, so it's easy to blame someone's great round on their connection.

I host a ton, but recently I've been in at least 5 or 6 servers where I play the same as if I was hosting.... exactly. On top of that, I've been in at least a couple dozen where it's very similar and doable.

The biggest problem is if you haven't hosted, you know people talk about "host advantage" and then you see the host doing very well, and in your head you create a monster. In your head host advantage not only makes you invincible, but it gives you bigger genitalia, earns you more money, gets you more women, and defaults to a 5 to 1 ratio.

So are people in this thread trying to say host advantage doesn't happen? LOL

I host a lot and recently I've just been too bored with the game to host anymore. So I've been playing in my friends servers.
There is a DEFINATE advantage to hosting.

Host advantage is there, no doubt about it. We're just saying it isn't going to "make" you go 40/3 or anything like that. In a 10 minute team SS (when I'm hosting) I normally go something like 25/8. In someone elses room (with green ping) I go more like 22/10.

I really think it depends much, MUCH more on if your team has your back. And what kind of oppisition you're up against. Even hosting I sometimes get some lag (lots of other stuff going on at once bogs my xbox down).

Im always hosting and im rarely getting that comment, i am getting "get a life" though frequently. But about another related thing, does anyone els here have troubles killing certain ppl even on your own host? Im running in to ppl every now and then that i just cant kill and its like they know it because they just keep charging me without even seeking cover although im filling them with bullets. Are they just having really bad connections, connections so bad that not even the host can kill them, or are they stand-byíng in some way? Im never keeping red pings in my lobbies for the sake of the other players so it cant be that. Has anyone els noticed this?
