well, i'm new to far cry 2 and i started playing multiplayer online and well, i get slaughtered.
i read alot of you don't play with auto aim on, but in the game it seems there is alot more people with it turned on than off.
i mean i can unload a hundred rounds at a person 10 feet away and not kill the person, but one shot from that persons pistol and i'm on the ground.
so whats the deal?
i'm gettin picked off with a machine gun from like 200 meters and i cant kill a guy at point blank range.
is there something i'm doing wrong?
how do you use the auto aim feature?
i got it turned on in the menu, but how do you use it, how does it function?

I didn't even know there was an Auto-Aim feature!

I would assume it is more of an Aim-Assist feature. It would very slightly help keep your cross hair on a target. You would need to turn on the cross hair feature.

yea i didn't know until i got my butt handed to me in muli player and i went looking for it.
i figured something was up when i couldn't hit any one but they could all hit me.

You have to aim your gun to see the effects of auto aim. Press L2 to aim.

Gee, i sure wish that the PC version had auto aim. No, hang on a minute, no i don't. Auto aim is for CHEATS and NOOBS. I am suprised that the game developers put that feature into the console version - then again no i'm not.

Yea i try aim my gun and it does not try to aim at anything, even if i am 2 feet from some one, it just shoots where ever. it makes it almost impossible to be competitive.

there is a big difference between using a mouse to aim and using a thumb stick dood.
tell you what, try using your arrow keys to aim your gun sometime, i bet you don't talk so hot then.
the reason they didn't put it into the pc version is because you DONT NEED IT.

Why did I know that this seemingly innocuous thread was going to be another opportunity for a lame, desperate cheapshot from a PC nerdboy? The auto-aim feature is a more subtle effect than you might think (not like you'd ever know as you've never actually experienced it firsthand), and if every player uses it, then it's an even playing field, and thus not "cheating," is it? At least it's not like the PC, where there are always hackers and cheaters with aimbots that ruin the experience for everyone else who tries to play fairly.

so the effect of aim assist is not all that noticable?
i read somewhere that it said it was like your gun was on a rubber band and kept getting pulled to your opponents.

well mabee mine is working, i just thought it was supposed to do more than it is.

If Auto-Aim or Aim-Assit would not exist on the anolog console controller, people wouldn't be able to hit the broad side of a barn.

This is another reason why FPS are not ment for consoles and why PC FPS games are dumb down as well but as long as everyone uses it, can not be consider cheating as one member already said because it levels up the playing field.

Now, not having it would have the same effect but God Forbid you make it hard for them to turn Leet.

Cheating and Hacking Online work both ways, it is not a PC-Only problem http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif Now, if you were to make the game w/o XP, there would be less cheating or hacking

Not much of an effect. I turned it on for a round of Custom Player matches. If you get one of your buddies to stand still and let you aim at them you would see a very slight movement of the crosshair when that player would move. It's like a very short "Lock On" feature. Maybe 1/4 of a second.

I have played without it for so long that i did much better after turning it off and moving into ranked. Just practice and you don't need to worry about it. I really like playing without crosshairs enabled, it makes the game look and feel like it should.

It's not even close to the Aimbots that PC players use.

As a PC gamer myself, I don't feel that there's an obligation to bash consoles for having auto-aim. I don't like consoles, but I don't lash attacks out just because there's auto-aim for them and not for me. Big whoopdy-doo.

i just can't understand how can PC players say that its better to use the arrows insted of the analog stick of the PS3 since its much better and easy to aim then that stupid clicks on the arrows i bet i kill one pc user 10 times in a row without even a shot gets me.
I didn't even konw that there was this auto-aim option and i think its just a excuse because it loses a match. i never used that and reached to the top 500 in TDM ranked match´s mostly as a sharpshooter

Have u ever heard of a Mouse? There is no comparisson between an analog stick to a digital mouse when it comes to movement... like day & night.

Now, people may use the KB arrows to navigate but I doubt very much they use the arrows to aim. I rather use "The Force" than the arrows to aim at enemies! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Who said this?

I use a mouse to play my games.

My brother uses a mouse to play his games.

Everyone I know uses a mouse to play games. Hell, my boss at work uses a mouse to play games.

Where on earth did you get this assumption? I smell faulty logic.

Who the hell would use the arrow keys to aim!?
