Every time I run the game I get this error.

It installed ok but when I try to launch the game I get this error it goes fullscreen as if it's working then crashes back to the windows desktop with this error.

I've checked ubi support. (http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/end...MmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li= (http://ubisoft.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ubisoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=10395&p_created=1112739590&p_sid=5vmIPXKh&p_lva=10222&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PWRmbHQmcF9ncmlkc29yd D0mcF9yb3dfY250PTExJnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9c2VhcmNoX25 sJnBfcHJvZF9sdmwxPTg4JnBfcHJvZF9sdmwyPTEyODMmcF9wY WdlPTE*&p_li=))

-I'm not using window blinds
-I have the latest ATI drivers (catalyst 5.6)
-I have daemon tools but I disabled it
-My desktop is running in 32 bit.

I've played it before but I had to reinstall windows and now I can't http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif so i know my specs are fine. But here they are anyway:

AMD Barton 2800+
1gb Geil PC3200 DDR
Hercules Radeon 9800 pro

Please help. I want to play SCCT.

uhhh... did you reinstall the game after reinstalling windows?

TheJkWhoSaysNi

Yeah.

I tried reinstalling it again just in case it was a bad install.

I've tried playing it without any patches and with the latest patch.

I would recommend closing Splintercell3.exe.

It closes itself. I've tried installing Catalyst 5.7 diddn't help.

Any other ideas?

I was kidding. Does Versus work?

TheJkWhoSaysNi

I can't even get that far. I don't even see the intro movies. I see the cd check and the splash screen. It then goes full screen then immedietly crashes back to the desktop with that error.

I don't know why the SP mode doesn't work, but... do you know you can launch SvM mode directly, even without the DVD? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
just make a shortcut to the SCCT_Versus.exe file in your SCCT\Versus\System folder http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
and tell us if it's working...

TheJkWhoSaysNi

That works! Thanks. I diddn't know you could launch it directly. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

However, I was hoping to play single player. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Anyone got any other ideas how to get SP working?

Jump on versus and play some games with us! But also, try downloading the demo and seeing if that works. If it does, well then I'm not sure what that means, but if it doesn't, at least you know it's not the full-version game...

I've downloaded and installed the demo and it works.

I don't understand this. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Any ideas?

did you reformat the drive when you reinstalled windows or did you just reinstall over the system? if that is what you did you may have had some Splinter Cell folders left from the previous install that are not "reinstalling" properly. other than that http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I formatted the drive with windows on (C:\) and the drive which had SCCT on (D:\) and reinstalled everything.

Ok, to eliminate it being a phsyical problem with my splindercell3.exe can someone do a sha1sum (ftp://ftp.gnupg.org/gcrypt/binary/sha1sum.exe) check of splintercell3.exe v 1.03? (uk version. I dont know if it's the same as US or other European countries.

Anyway, heres what i get:

As much as I hate to do it, I think perhaps your best bet would be a couple things, go here (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/6/ubb.x?a=frm&s=400102&f=954105331) and try the help forum, and/or contact UbiSoft. Their gurus should be able to help ya out. I hope.

Do you have a firewall or router? That may be blocking access to online. Have you tried starting the game from the disc rather than from the shortcut? Your system specs are fine, in fact a little better than mine.

I do, but the game does not even try to connect to the internet. If it did my firewall would tell me. It never gets that far. It won't even get to the intro.

There is a post (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/954105331/m/4181093733) in Community Support with a few people with the same problem I'm having. None of the suggestions there worked.

I've sent a question through ubi support. I know my pc can run the game. I ran it before I reinstalled windows. I haven't even added any new hardware since I last plaed the game.

Edit: I just tried closing every process which isn't needed by windows. Norton, MSN messenger, Apache, MySQL, Firefox. Basically just running the default windows processes and it's still not working. I also completley uninstalled Daemon tools and have no DVD/CD burning software installed. Still no luck. This is a really weird problem.

Have you tried any 3rd party video drivers?
The OMEGA drivers work better for me then the official ATI ones.

Well ubi tech support diddn't help. They just suggested closing all programs that are running.

But, I fixed the problem myself. I formatted and reinstalled again and SC:CT works perfectly. I don't know why. I only just did it 3 weeks ago.

SInce you solved your problem, I don't need to give my input on this, but I have a question for you:

Do you visit Massassi?
