Every now and again my sound in game makes a looping sound as if the sound is repeating itself over an over agian. I've tried disabling eax, putting the sound to low, put hardware acceleration to low and even updated my sound card drivers with no change. Is it something I've missed?

Mine does the same thing, I have the newest drivers on the X-fi Xmusic.

Very tired of this problem

when you get this looping sound, does your gameplay lag as well? like just freeze there?

if so, its more likely a memory problem. reply back to here with further details.

Mine lags like crazy, never freezes though.

I notice it does it most when I load a savepoint especially. If I was being shot at by one of those big stationary guns sometimes the same gunner will sit there shooting as if I reloaded but the AI is still doing the same thing.

do you have 512mb of ram? this all sounds like insuficient memory prob. this game needs a minimum of 1gb to run smoothly.

yah got 1GB of Geil memory. I am on that 3rd mission where you call in the airstrike, right when the target gets blown up the ticking goes nuts. I had a lot of sound problems with Lockdown also.

But every other game I play has zero issues. Generals, Battle for Middle Earth 2, HL2, Far Cry and a few others.

I booted up to a memory test software after my last post and ran it till about 10 minutes ago with no errors. My install of XP is pretty fresh only a couple month's old.

Yeah - I was getting real bad sound problems as well - looping and repeating. But the worst thing was that the sound on the TV screen that pops up on the top right hand corner of the screen (sorry the Narcom window I mean) was completely garbled. But only for some of the voices.

So I set the option for Generic Software Renderer in the sound options and that cured the garbled Narcom sound, but I'm now getting more sound stutters... But it really doesn't seem to like my soundcard if I choose Hardware Renderer
