this could be me but..
is there something wrong with star shell behaviour?
they seem to ignite/burst too close to the sea surface....i was under the impression that they ignited in the air and then parachuted down-could be wrong!
thanks in advance for any clarification

Aim the gun up in the air.

I do wish that they would add a command to the deck gun crew where you can select "Illuminate target with star shell" or something like that where the crew would automatically load a starshell projectile, set it for the approproiate height and range, and then fire one single shell above the target that you have selected. This should be a command that is carried out only once per request, like launching a torpedo or a BOLD decoy, so that they do not simply let loose with all 40 of your star shells.
