Hi

I saw some of your guys map videos. I was wondering how you make a video like that? Do you tape your tv or something? I made a awesome huge map, and the screenshots doesnt really show the map well so I want to make a video of it.

can someone tell me how you guys make a good video?

ive lost myself typing this but i believe its a wire called firewire cable or something that plugs into your xbox's ethernet cable port and captures live video thats recorded onto your computer. Now i may be wrong but i heard something like that, also ive heard digital cameras being used, but i think that was for Xbox360. I myself havent recorded videos or even taken pictures yet... i never bothered to try it...

Heh, nice try SideWayz but its nothing like that.

These people simply have the ability to run their Xbox on their monitor using the myriad of options out there that allow you to do that pretty cheaply. After that, there is the option of "capturing" that video onto your hard drive if you have the software to do that.

oh ok. so you have to buy another program to do it?

Close again, but not quite there.

Though you can use your monitor for your xbox(x2vga (http://www.x2vga.com/)), it's not required to capture the footage. What you need is a capture card for your PC/Mac.

Here's a good but old guide:
Guide to Video Capture (http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20030320-448.html)
The card mentioned I bought for <$40 new a few years ago.

ive taken pictures of mine with a digital camera-annoying thohttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

if you get around to this make sure when you take the photo the TV screen looks normal...no black squares or blobs

No problem.

If you have an ATI "all-in-wonder" card you might have that functionality already.

If there's other options out there, they're lost on me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

It's a good idea to turn off the flash and use a tripod. I used a beer can on the coffee table http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

lol, is that how you stop the blobs and stuff, keeping the camera still?

Yeah. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

When your turn off the flash, most didgicams slow the shutter speed to let in more light. So any little nudge will smear or blur your shot.

If the camera has a timer even better. Line up the shot, start the timer and get your hands off it.

Erm, isn't it kinda hard to capture your video the way you want it if its not being viewed on your monitor??

Hey Spartan, I can capture your map for you. When i get the time Ill get you into a room and you can do an audio tour while we run around it. You will need a place for me to upload it though.

DJ.

Touché!

But my point was that it wasn't a matter of running it through your monitor to capture it.

The magic happens in your PC/Mac. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

i capture my vids by using the Dazzle DV90. Basically I have a regular "red/white/yellow" cable coming from the xbox. I then use phono couplers to essentially split the cables into 2 seperate outputs. One set goes to the tv so I can play as normal and the second set plugs into the Dazzle. The Dazzle is connected to my PC via USB. Not as fast as firewire but it can capture at over 4000kbs which is more than enough for capturing xbox video I think.

You said the magic words. DAZZLE. Thats what I have been using for all of my videos for several years. Very easy and only about $40.00 instead of a video card. The Dazzle also allows you to record video from PS2, vcr, camcorder, and just about anything else.
This is the new version. I still have the old version.
