I'm using a XFX 6800 GT, and I like playing FC as well as HL2, but HL2 doesn't like drivers 77.72... and FC doesn't like 91.33, which is what I'm trying right now. I'm trying to find a version they will both work on.
Can the tech help guys here start by telling me which driver versions have been reported to work best with Far Cry?

Okay, now I really do need help. I tried playing a single player map, and all kinds of crazy things are going on in the game. Sky texture somtimes come down on my head, some small areas of water look like white sheets, I can't see any enemies until their about 10 feet away, dark texutures are jet black, lots of shadow problems, and sometimes the screen vibrates in 3rd person view while Im driving. None of these things happened with the other drivers I were using! I thought newer drivers were supposed to be better... this is totally rediculous.
The game is unplayable, because I keep getting shot at but I can't see who's firing or I can't see a trigen until he's already landing on me! Someone please help!
Is there a newer driver, somewhere between 77.72 and the current drivers, that will work well with Far Cry?

Are you running Driver cleaner pro (http://www.drivercleaner.net/) when uninstalling (before reinstalling)?
The 71.89's worked well with FC and I think with HL2 also.
Also, try running FC at lower settings and make sure that nothing in the "advanced video options" window is set to "custom".
You might want to check out the Guru3d forums (http://forums.guru3d.com/) for additional help.

First, We need to make sure you are running at least Far Cry version 1.3.
77.xx drivers are bad for Far Cry.
Try using 84.21 which I used for a long time with good results.

I installed the 84.21 drivers... and then I loaded my last saved game, but I still can't see any enemies. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I can see vehicles and weapons just fine, but not enemies. Is there a graphics setting for how far away you can see enemies? I have no idea whats causing this!

What are the rest of your system specs? You might need to re-install those drivers. Like Coops said: 84.21 are rock solid for both games for me all the time.
Are you using Driver Cleaner to completely wipe out any traces of your old drivers? Have you ever had an ATi card in your system before the 6800gt?

Okay, its fixed. I'm not sure what happened. I started playing with the video settings, and it went away. Thanks for your help guys, the drivers you suggested work great!! I can't find a single graphic flaw!
And pakmanis, the reason I spent the extra money on a 6800 GT when it first came out was so I could use those extra features like the custom options. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif In fact, I'm using them right now, set on paradise without a hitch. It works perfectly fine. I have no idea why you'd say that.

I need to learn to stop being so "cryptic" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
What I meant about "custom" settings in the advanced window options is make sure that everything set to whatever you selected i.e: high, very high, ultra high. You'll notice in the drop down menus there is no "custom" option.

LOL, okay. You're forgiven. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Ever notice how evil the word cryptic sounds? Think about it. Also, "tug boat" looses all its meaning if you say it outloud enough times over and over... not to mention it starts to sound really wierd...
Hey, I found a graphic glitch. Beer bottles are split into unaligned chunks if you look close enough. Also, I don't know if this is a graphic glitch, but if you go prone on the tip of a crane, you go upside down. lol
