Beginning Friday, 06FEB09, business will take me up the East Coast of the US with a final destination of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My Navigation Officer, Lt. Garmin informs me that a rendezvous with the Torsk, SS 423 is possible. She is currently docked in Baltimore, Maryland.

According to Lt. Garmin, our planned route takes us within 2 nm of the current position of the Torsk on Saturday 07FEB09 at 1200 hours. I have instructed him to add it as a waypoint.

I will have my camera with me. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Dave, cool!

If you want all access, talk to AVGWarhawk on this forum, or visit the TVA website (http://www.usstorsk.org/tva/contacts.htm) and contact either Gil Bohannon or Chief Mike Eacho. They are all good people!

Looking forward to what all you find.

Thanks for the suggestion Snakeyez. I sent them a email a few minutes ago. I had sent a PM to AVGWarhawk about 10 days ago, but he has yet to reply.

@KFM Be there or be square my friend. Give me your flight number and I'll pick you up at the airport.

Oh gosh! If only I was not going for that new job... Maybe in two years (yes that is long) I will get the vacations at which point I would rightfully deserve.

You know what, soon enough, if you get some free time in your agenda, maybe we can play on a multiplayer mission. What do you say about that! It's a nice compromise for the meantime...

I don't think he frequents this forum very often. Try here: http://forum.kickinbak.com/ I know he frequents there, and subsim.

AVG is a registered member here, if a PM is sent to him from this forum, he'll get an email notification all the same, Ducimus.

I look forward to your pics, Dave. I wish I could be there with you just like the U-505. Don't get stuck in one of the hatches this time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Dave and I met at around 11:30 yesterday. We had a nice time looking over the Torsk. Dave took plenty of pictures. Unfortunate we could not get into the radio shack for pics. We had a new door installed and did not have a key to the lock. The key is with a volunteer who was not aboard. Other than that, Dave got plenty of pics for all to see. There goes the bandwidth at UBI http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Thanks for coming by Dave. Enjoyed our talk on deck. I told my folks about your stray dog story and taking the animal to the vet, etc. They said they liked already http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif Let me know when you might be in good ole' Bawlmer again. I enjoyed our visit.

BTW guys, Dave is just an awesome person and very enthusiastic about submarines. I wish more people were. The Torsk would be in want for nothing! You are blessed to have him on your boards as a contributor. Also, I'm a bit jealous, Dave gets to travel with his job and see all the museum subs if the logistics is right! Now that is a nice job!

A big THANK YOU to all the volunteers at the Torsk!

AVGWarhawk and the rest of the Torsk “crew” made my visit a wonderful experience. I felt very much at home. Gauge by gauge and deck plank by deck plank the Torsk is being put back into fighting trim by this great group of volunteers.

Everyone will have to wait a few days for the pictures, I even have one of AVGWarhawk. I will not be back to my home computer until next Saturday at the earliest, so y’all will have to wait a bit to see them. The company laptop I travel with is one of the older wood burning models.

My Torsk hat and patches will take their honored place in my collection.

The stray dog story is the one about Pensacola Sally, the fourth and latest addition to my pack. I am fairly sure I related it on the forum, but if anyone is interested I can start a new thread on it.

Again, THANKS to all the volunteers on the Torsk.

I would have joined you in a heartbeat, Dave but, I can't drive in the dark. Baltimore isn't all that far from the Pocono Mts.
What am I saying? As a former OTR driver, Los Angeles isn't all that far. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And everything is within walking distance, if you have the time. But I digress.

I get up to Philly, company HQ at least once and sometime twice a year. If you really want to join me at the Torsk the next time I am in the area, I will make you an offer you can’t refuse. Because you are night vision impaired, I will put you up in a Holiday Inn for the night. I travel so much, I now have enough Holiday Inn points to actually buy a Holiday Inn with them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif Giving you a free night will cost me nothing and the 15000 points it takes won’t even make a small dent in my points total. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Just a thought.

Graciously accepted. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Do you ever get over toward Cleveland? There's a Sub museum there too.
