What does the multiplayer skin reveal about multiplayer?

What do you guys think? I've been looking at it and I all I can say is that obviously there are still "spy suits" and possibly the 3rd Ech goggles. Please don't close this thread and say "Well hey there we gots a MP discussion right here:.... for ya lololol"... This is kind of specific.

And yeah obviously this is old but I haven't seen a good discussion going on about it. The multiplayer is the biggest factor for whether or not I'm buying the game (I'm sure a lot of you think the same). It's kind of ****ing me off that they haven't revealed anything about the multiplayer despite them saying "VERY SOON" like 3 months ago.

unfortunately it seems from past splinter cell games, they release multiplayer info a few weeks/month prior to its release, that being said GRRRRR. And I'm with you 100% that it is frustrating. As for the picture....I'm scared that this will be not our beloved spies vs mercs. But a hybrid spy kill spy scenario. Possibly infiltrate a base and secure an objective....but done like double agent's ps2/xbox way....please let me be wrong

There are some closer up pictures of the outfit in some other threads and it shows him holding an MP5 one of my favorite guns. So I think it looks like spy vs Merc especially after the translation of the Russian in the new homepage.

After looking at the Russian "hack" viral stunt. Many others have already posted the translation. Which is in simple terms "lol guys we gotta turn our security off for a bit so be on your tippy toes." Russian DEFENDERS would only receive a message of this nature. SvM is quite possibly in, but i want to know why the heck a mercenary would wield a suppressed mp5(next to outfit) when they have grenades? That mp5 better go to a merc though!

Might be 3E Spies (ie, assault squad) vs Mercs..ie, standard fare team deathmatch

It's most likely that multiplayer is going to be exactly like it is in the double agent for the ps2, an advanced version of the Spy vs Spy type of game, integrated with very customizable characters, and weapon selections, and a crowd of NCP or AI characters to make the environment more difficult to remain anonymous in. There can obviously be a team deathmatch mode, or a free for all, and people will be able to turn on or off certain aspects like killing civilians as bad or good (the crowds of people)

That is not a Mercenary that is a 3E SPY not a merc. On the description it even says 3E spy skin or somthing of the sort.

Everything I have seen so far points to some sort of deathmatch. the spy is holding a mp5 and not a sticky shocker http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif and even though i do like the way the merc skin at uplay looks the only good thing I can see is that the motion tracking vision is obviosly back. My concern is where is the gas mask, this is a vital piece of equipment if you want CT style MP back and something I really wanted to see.

I'm all for spies vs mercs since it is my favorite multiplayer EVER, but sadly I don't think guys in charge of Montreal (currently) can pull it off the way we want them to. I lost all my confidence in them after their total disregard for the veterans of their fantastic games. Soooooo, on second thought, maybe something new is better. (pains me to say this lol)

I think a more killing-oriented multiplayer with some minor objective stuff as well. As in, spies have weaker but still killing-capable guns such as the silent MP5. Spies can still sneak but their guns aren't nearly as effective or long range as the mercs. Maybe (ARGH! MY HEART!) spies vs spies could be done well.

I guess what I'm saying is that since they've taken all the hardcore parts of the game, dumbed them down, and added some new casual parts of the game, I think they will do the same to multiplayer. Less sneaking, more killing, but sneaking is still possible. Like, the 3rd Echelon "assault spies" vs some nimble but hardcore mercs. Know what I mean?

Right next to the picture of the mp5 it says: "Gain first multiplayer access to the MP5 SD3"... that leads me to believe that you can unlock it later on in the normal edition, they probably took some ques from call of duty... wwhich I suppose isnt a bad thing.

Considering most people want to play as a spy if they purchase the game, I'd not be surprised if the multiplayer takes note of this and it is basically spy vs spy, al biet more customized spies or something more in depth. I never enjoyed playing as a merc, mostly because that specific way of playing competes with the trillions of better games that do shooting and fps movement way better, it always just felt like you were really limited with your turning and gameplay as a merc and it was weird when you look and see every other shooter game doing that playstyle better and in finner ways. Obviously it made sense for spy vs merc but these days I'd much rather have a choice between things I want rather then 1 thing I want and 1 that's a lamer version of every other game on the market.

That said, the only thing I care about as far as online play goes is a great and deep co-op experience, Chaos Theory's small number of co-op mission blew my mind back in the day and I'd love to fall in love with splinter cell co-op again that way.

Why do people always say "That said" or "having said that"? It's becoming annoying as hell when everyone says the same line. Other than that I agree with you.

In game content said if you get the CE you get a mp5 and a third echelon suit. So, that can be fore the single player. But I do believe their is Spy vs MERC. But you are only buying the game for the multilayer. That so different then my agenda. Beat the single player on the hardest difficult then go to multilayer. Double Agent was different single player so, i just did it on normal.

For Pigeon, they made a great multilayer will CT but Shanghai gave the meres more powerful. I still believe they are not giving up on Spy vs Merc because that game play was revolutionary in multilayer and was never done before. The MERCs where better in CT, which made the spies have to use their skills to when. Which it should.

If you guys have got AC2 go to the uplay section and you will see what the mercs look like.They got ak-47s and red NV goggles that look like army ones that attatch to a helmet and swing down over the eyes.

Thats true. The Mercs are different on Uplay.com. Can anyone get the picture. I forget how to get it.
