LOL, maybe another full spread from the front and rear tubes mate.Maybe more, she is a big tough ship to sink.

I've usually have to put nine into it before it sinks. I think the least I ever got one with was seven or eight.
Pg. 74 of your manual gives you a bit of what to expect when hunting battles ships, it suggests to expect at least seven will be needed, and the Yamato is the biggest of them all.

heyo..
she wasnt meant to.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif if modeled after the specs.
she was a floating concrete bunker.
took me 12 fish and I only did it one time and even at that she didnt go down fast, but I did make it out alive. her support fleet is crazy large. most folks dont even get in range or even see her at all.
cheers.

Are you sure you fired at the right ship? That pic you posted doesn't look like the Yamato. It looks more like a Kongo Class BB. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
musta hit it three or four times BTW, Kongos take 3 or 4 hits to bring down, though on very rare occasion I've succeeded with 2 but you have to keep track of how many torps you fire.

I once took a Kongo BB out with one Mark 14.Dec 1941 out of Manila with a Porpoise Class.Ran into an invasion force at night, dovedue to moonlight...fired all four at a Kongo BB from 3,500 yards...two set to blow up under keel, two set to hit the sides at 22 feet...first one ran under forward turret, huge explosion...then the "shes going down message"...seconds later the other 3 hit home but it was already over.
Of course this was stock game....

I took one idle Y out a few days ago. Torps nicely spread at keel depth. Took 9.
Werner...good eyes.

wups.. lol. didnt catch that initially.
back in nov 07, i posted a screen montage of my yamato adventure here.. no longer a yamato virgin (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6421019045/m/6371098216?r=8341090316#8341090316), unfortunately only one photo remains. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.
there was only one yamato built by the imperial navy. this is why it sometimes can be difficult to materialize ingame.
cheers

Actully there where two battleships of the
Yamato class, Yamato and Musashi, The Shinano was to be the third, but converted to a carrier.
However, in game you'll never the the Musashi named in the game, just called a Y class.

just wanna make sure i know what i'm going after...
another quick question, because i am kinda newbish... the bars under a given ship in the recognition manual....they represent a boat's length correct? each bar equals 100 (if not 100,what length are they) units of length measure right? wild guess..
trying to figure out how to use hitman's torpedo angle/track run calculator found on subism...anyone know how to use that thing? it is supposed to aid in estimating a spread more accurately so maybe i can sink this thing...thanks again.

also...torpedo depth settings should vary from boat to boat right? do you use a ship's draft to guestimate what the depth should be on those suckers? whats the formula for that?
thanks,thanks again.

For future reference, it's easier for everyone if you just edit your last post to include your later thoughts, rather than posting several replies in a row. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

my bad. thanks for the tip. figured out that the bars under the ships in the recognition manual are roughly 25 meters in length. i.e.- ship with four bars=100 meters in length. now if i can just translate that to hitmans torpedo track calculator thing, i'll be in good shape.

do you use a ship's draft to guestimate what the depth should be on those suckers? Precisely! I set my torps for 3 to 3.5 feet above the ship's keel (depth), 4 to 4.5 feet in heavy seas. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

But be careful early war, before late 43 the M14's run about 6-12 deeper, until they're fixed.

I forgot to mention that tiny little detail. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif For some strange reason, I continue under the premise that everyone already knows these things. Thanks for clarifying that Wolfe. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I've gotten kongo's and Ise's witha single hit or 2 hits. I've seen and damaged the yamato in convoys but even if the DD's don't find you, there's just so much crap in the water that once they start scattering and accelerating it's anyones guess what your torps will find. I've wound up skining crap I didn't want or some unfortunate merchant that gets left behind as everyone else runs for it.
