OK you have seen the demo now,so what do you think of the game in general?

Will you buy it on what you have seen so far?
I cant comment not played it yet,need to get directx 9c and havent had time yet.

The game looks good and you can see that they've put a lot of effort into it.

I'm just glad that I have played the Rise of Nations Demo because with that skill I could find my way around on HOK even if my german is not very good. It took me a while to figure out that 'holz' meant wood, LOL.

Basically you have to make sure that you upgrade your buildings as soon as you can.

I don't know if it's because of the demo or maybe they haven't shrinked the code yet but the game takes a while to load so much so that I thought my computer crashed...

It's a completely overhauled game which looks and feel totally different from the past incarnations.......I believe settlers' fans will need some time to get used to it.

My verdict? set4 is a great game better than we had realised.This wc3 aoe generic clone is not settlers,very pretty true but not the micro-management feast that is settlers seems to me the game has been lost in the rush to make a non mentally taxing disposable strategy item a chance missed i think.My advice if you like wc3 buy wc3 if aoe is your thing buy aoe settlers lovers i hope will continue to play settlers not this settlers in name only product.

Settlers 5 a clone game
Settlers 6 lets say if S5 fails to produce enough money for them..a 3d shooter perhaps??

since its all in german, i got nowhere, but even with the graphics on medium theyre still pretty impressive...
from the outside, i think this game might actually sell more than S4, but thats because there are more AoM and WC3 players than there are S4 players...

lol, what is this ****...you know what, im happy it was late, saved me the money. I got 5 sawmills and no woodcutters do they teleport the logs to the sawmill?

graphic is ok...if the game came out 2 years ago. 3D? where, 3d means you should be able to move around in every direction, see from all angles, still looks like 2D to me but i might not have found the function for changing camera mode. And please is there a way to turn off the sound of the ppl, i cant stop laughing.

The soldiers run around in a bunch like confused chickens.

First time time i tried to start it my computer made a very scary sound and turned itself off.
3, 4, 5 game me an error.
And thats with a pretty ok computer

Others get bluescreen half the time.

listen to the games makers... you're not allowed to critize stuff because of FE's if you've got overclocked hardware...
i dont agree with that; i've used this pc overclocked for ages with no error...

wierd i can play halo 2 doom 3 and all other games that is far more demanding than this **** without any problems. I run prime 95 torture test without any problems, and that is the hardest thing you can put your computer through, no errors and that is 24 hours of maxing out memory, systembus and cpu.

I doubt it...if its errors like xhriztjan says then it will be exactly like S4 released buggy and the same or less ammount of people will buy it....less i would say, why would AoM and WC3 players leave those games to play a new buggy game???

OK I have now played the demo for longer,as I said the graphics are impressive,the changing seasons is good,and very different to anything I have seen before.The scrolling is ultra smooth no sudden jerks etc as some players are complaining about.

The 100% Settlers fans arent going to like it,especially if they think its going to be in the same vein as the previous 4 games in the series.Those amongst you who like the AOM,WC3 type games,I think will enjoy playing it,theres more to do and make in the game,far more complex.
I personally think the biggest mistake UBI have made is having Settlers in the title of this game,its very misleading,its NOTHING like Settlers,but we knew that from the first set of screenshots we all saw,the only claim they should have made was that HOK was made by the makers of Settlers.
When you play the demo you have to forget about Settlers and look and play it as a totally new genre of game which is what it is.

My verdict.........After all I have said previously about it,Im prepared to give it a fair trial,when its released.I enjoy AOM and this in my mind is very very similar but on the whole lots better.

Speaking of errors. I have a laptop with a louzy louzy graphicscard.. (radeon 7000 igp) and s5 runs on it...shocks...crashes,,fe's and everything...but, it runs....Now I also have a pc:
Duron 1,3 GHZ
512 MB ddr
Geforce 6800 LE
ect ect...all brand new
NOTHING....I cant even start the game. and don't tell me I have done something wrong, cuz I have just spent an entire evening with ubi's ex support manager, trying to get the bloody thing to work. installed every driver in the world... but nothing. I still get the "graphic-engine could not be initialised" error.

Do they think I will buy a game that wont run on a good computer? Do they think I will just stare at the (uglie) s5 cover all day.

hey u probably didn't do windows update too often. u need all the updates to day to play this game.

Thats not true,I run XP and have neither SP1 or SP2 on my pc,and it works perfectly.

Well... I have waited anxiously for the demo and played it through in a confusing evening (eventhough my German is pretty good http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif). I like the looks, but there are some strange features. There is no-one who transports goods (I really liked my workers walking all over the place), this makes it all not so realistic - in S4 it was obvious why it took longer to get something built when all your supplies are on the other side of your empire!!
But anyway, I like the idea of having to upgrade your buildings. It makes sense that there is a technology tree.

WC3 is a fantasy game, also has elements of role-play with a large storyline.
AOM i assume is like Age Of Empires, I've got both but I've not played much of AOM coz WC3 is better http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
