Are there 1001 lights?

I was just thinking about the goal of getting 1001 lights.. I forget, does he start off with a light or something?
We have 4 lands with 5-areas each -- each of the 5 areas have 45 lights. Each of the 4 lands also has a 25-light "home" for a boss.
So 4 lands x 5 sublands = 20 sublands -- all with 45 points, for a total of 900 points. Add in the 4x25 points for the "boss homes", that's 100 and the total is 1000.

I was hoping for a bit of slack on light gathering, since some of the lights I can't figure out how to get to even trying plates and long tosses w/Elika. Was going to post a pic of one place I was stuck, but then I realized I couldn't upload the image -- only a pointer to it, and I don't have any ready open-image file-host location. Your math is correct! If you add all of the areas and bosses up there is only 1000 light seeds. I actually was thinking the exact same thing as you the first time I played through the game, but I can tell you for certain that there is 1001 light seeds. Just keep going, you'll see.

The Extra light seed comes from the end of the game, when you destroy the tree, And walk back to Elika when she is dead with the ig glowing ball in your hand (the light seed)
