Plenty of already-existing threads about this, and it has been settled so many times, it's ridiculous. Use search next time.

Altair's parents were of two different faiths. One was Christian(I think it was his mother) and the other was Muslim(father, I'm guessing). One of them was from Europe, if I remember correctly.

So he can't really be called one or the other.

To go a bit further with his name: Altair means "the Flyer", while the rest of his name, that I cannot remember now, means "son of none".

Want to know a answer which is 100% correct? Seriously? Are you ready? Are you ready? Earth. Yes man, Earth. You heard me. Earth.

What does knowing where hes from change? Ubi can make it all different and make him Indian, Australian. All they got to do is

Jade Raymond Interview.

"Altairs parents went on there honeymoon whilst Altairs mother was pregnant"

Other dude says: "So she was pregnant before marriage?"

Jade Raymond says: "No, just a real long honeymoon."

Other dude says: "So then?"

Jade Raymond: "Well they went Australia and Altair was born there, making him Australian"

Other dude says: "OMG! ALTAIR IS AUSTRALIAN!" over excitedly

Jade Raymond says/does: Laughs like a weirdo "Yes"

Useless aint it.

Ibn La-Ahad.
His name is Altair, Ibn La-Ahad. The Flyer, Son of None. Coolest name ever, especially if you've read the Dark Tower series.

Don't be silly. He's obviously Californian. Just listen to his accent, and the way he walks. And that nice tan.

Not everyone in Cali has a tan.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

But yeah....Altair's sexah swagger.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

He's half European, half muslim(not sure if that's the right word for it....)

I think you mean Arab. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

To tell you the truth about Alty's name, it is quite interesting.

His name either means "The Bird", or "The Flyer".
It depends on how it's pronounced.

Both Jade and Patrice have pronounced the name differently on different occasions.

Sometimes one would say "Alta'ir", and other times one would say "Altair".

This difference in pronounciation causes the difference in meaning.

Now, Jade did say in an early interview that Altair meant "The Flyer".
Later she said "The Bird of Prey", which I can tell you is wrong.

In the game, characters refer to Altair with both pronounciations, only adding to the confusion.

But main characters, such as Malek, say "Alta'ir", meaning "The Flyer"...

Again, it probably is that, but you never know... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

By Muslim law that makes him a Muslim. However, that's a religion and not a race. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Altair is obviously from Greenland. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
