Beating Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess are some of my best memories of playing video games. I know that some people don't like that genre, but Zelda is simply amazing. We'll have to see what direction Ubi wants to take RS2 concerning linear progression.
bimbo11991

Majora's Mask was also a very creative and great game. I don't see why people wouldn't like Zelda, but everyone has different tastes.

A very long and pointless discussion but I'm on bimbo's side. And the Zelda-series is really bad; if you'd be pointing at the animated serieshttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif The games are masterpieces!

How much will the bundle (game and motion + ) cost?
bimbo11991
10-15-2009, 10:37 AM
As of now, the bundled wm+ and game is listed as $60.
Fender0
10-16-2009, 08:04 AM
In sweden, a new game costs about 100$ in gamestop or similar stores. Though if you buy a game over internet it costs about 75$

Do you actually use dollars over there? If not, what is the conversion rate?
sayajin4us
10-17-2009, 09:09 AM
Damn!? you poor guys are getting ripped off. I'm getting RS2 w/ WM+ bundle for 50+ American dollars. I though Sweden used EUROS?
sayajin4us
10-17-2009, 10:27 AM
The union is a "good idea", (note the sarcassam). Europe was doing just fine. All countries had indepedent national pride. I think that that is being stripped away from the european countries because of the union. That is just my opinon anyway. Opinoins are like belly buttons, everyone has em http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

When do you guys plan to release RS2? I heard it would be in november 09, others say in march 2010.
Kazzooey
10-17-2009, 03:48 PM
When you guys said you would try to add as many possible moves in the game, how many would that be? 50? o_o? cause that would be alot
Kazzooey
10-17-2009, 03:55 PM
If you guys have online, how will you base it? Will it be like The Conduit where you pointlessly kill people and get nothing out of it besides a new rank (which does nothing) or will it be like COD where as you lvl up you get new guns and perks?
Or will you guys do it like the other PC online games such as Gunz: The Duel (another Sword/Gun game) where you can play quests and bosses and deathmatches and lvl up and get money and buy new stuff.
Or are you going to be even more creative and make up something unique? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Kazzooey
10-17-2009, 03:57 PM
Will you be able to add songs to play in the background? That would be a neat add on for the game so you dont have to listen to the same background music over and over again.
Kazzooey
10-17-2009, 03:58 PM
Will there be Multiplayer for campaign? Or survival modes for multiplayer or anything like that?
Penguyen
10-17-2009, 06:11 PM
I second that customizable music option. The music for the game is great but perhaps as a reward for completing some objective, maybe we can play the game to tracks of our liking (just to change up the tempo once in a while). Just make sure it's a tough objective and you can only complete it once you've finished the game at least once (the original music needs to be appreciated).
BTW Kazzooey it's march 10 I believe or somewhere around there. Nothing like good old polish.

Ubi Wuzzi which ideas have been used that are the bloggers?
Penguyen

Any chance of a flamethrower ubi? You can give it an oriental twist by designing it so it looks like a dragon head like the ones in disney's mulan; except they were rocket launcher-esque weapons. Then again, dragon head rocket launchers aren't a bad idea... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Other than that, how far are you going with eastern elements? Is it primarily going to be japanese influenced or are you exploring a greater diversity of asian cultures?
pigu9874
10-18-2009, 10:06 AM
Will there be other types of in-game music that are perhaps less generic than the ones we have now?
Kazzooey
10-18-2009, 12:40 PM
Are you guys going to make a good sword demo or something? It would probobly be nice if you guys could make a blank arena with one enemy with unlimited HP and let people mess around with the sword as a demo.
Jason V Said it himself, if you dont get the controls right at first, then nothing else matters after that.
Kazzooey
10-18-2009, 12:42 PM
Will there be Local Multiplayer? So you dont have to play online if you dont make it. It would probobly be nice to have that (:
Iron_Warrior
10-19-2009, 10:11 PM
This may or may not have been asked; I don't believe it's been answered.
Is there going to be any kind of extra, high-score-ish mode? Ex: Resident Evil 4 has The Mercenaries, which essentially places you in a large arena against unlimited enemies for a limited amount of time. It was an outstanding addition to the game that really boosted the replay value, and I'm curious if you guys have any plans for something like this.

Not your cup of tea? I can't see someone not enjoying Zelda unless they weren't very good at them. Nintendo pulls off game mastery with their Zelda series and it is still going strong.

Zelda, Mario(all but Super Mario Sunshine), Metroid, Fire Emblem, SSB series, they're all good . All that I'm missing is that rumored Kid Icarus Wii game. I saw some pics a while back and it was 1st person and in the sky (as in flying!!). Also ,what happened to the Kirby Wii game?
bimbo11991
10-20-2009, 12:20 PM
You didn't like Mario Sunshine? That was one of my favorite games on the Gamecube. I believe Kid Icarus has only been talked about and a 3D Kirby game on the Wii was also talked about for the Gamecube. They could revive some properties and make the big bucks doing so, but it isn't like Nintendo doesn't know how to do that.
rs2fan_893
10-20-2009, 07:33 PM
I prefered to play the Metroid Prime series. In Sunshine I couln't get over the Damn talking backpack. Also loved WINDWAKER, Killer 7, RE4 obviously, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance (sweet name btw) and SSb Melee(still love it!!).
rs2fan_893
10-20-2009, 07:35 PM
I did see pic for a Kid Icarus game!! I KNOW WHAT I SAW!!!
However, I don't know wether it was for gamecube or wii.
bimbo11991
10-20-2009, 07:59 PM
Metroid Prime series, RE4, Mario, Melee, Zelda, and many more games were completely awesome on the gamecube and wii.
You might have seen a generic picture of a Kid Icarus game, but I have no information on any official picture.

How can you suck at Zelda? That's almost impossible. The series, with the exception of II, never had a high difficulty level. Zelda games never was my cup a tea.

I was trying to say that some people don't like the puzzle aspect and some just aren't good at solving them without walk throughs. Water temples come to mind(especially in Ocarina of Time).

Hey guys, might it be a good idea to carry on this conversation in another topic? You're making it difficult for the developers to sort through all the posts to find the actual questions. And since they don't even have to be so nice as to answer questions in the first place, that's not a very good way to pay them back, is it?
bimbo11991
10-21-2009, 01:46 PM
I'm sure that the developers are well trained in sorting out the questions from the mountains of useless comments. It isn't like they are even answering questions often anymore. So we will continue to carry on our conversations where we see fit.
Penguyen

Would you rather have less government employees or higher taxes and a much higher deficit? Obama seems to think that a larger, less efficient government is the way to go.

Even with the fat trimmed, my goverment is among the most corrupt in history. They'll save millions and stuff them down their pockets. I do prefer Obama's tactics. Besides, it's not like I pay 5k in taxes. Everywhere you go, taxes follow. Its like a damn shadow.

Borrowing more and more money from China so that the government can take over the auto, bank, and insurance industry. The consequences are already showing and Obama hasn't fixed any problems in my opinion. I don't see him being re-elected.

Sorry if some of these questions have been asked before:
Will there be hub cities or training buildings similar to the first game where you can take on side quests and talk to people and between main missions?
What is the estimated campaign length?
Can you give an example of some of the mission variety, if there is any?
Will there be and vehicles in the game, and can me shoot while driving them?

I'll answer some of these ( I might be wrong, this is just stuff I've read).
The developers haven't talked much about the world at all, other than the motiff (japanese culture meets wild wild west), so good question.
It'll probably last around 10-15 hours.
I've suggested driving a vehicle like a chopper, or to hijack Payne's Pick-up, and Bigburito suggested a vehicle driving level. No response from the developers though, so probably not.
As for the variety on the missions, there really isn't a lot of details on this, this is yet another good question. All we know is the game is about revenge on a gang and you get stronger as you go and not much else really.
Hope I helped. Peace.

I was hoping to see at least 20 hours of single player campaign considering the lack of multiplayer. If they are not going to add full multiplayer, I would love to see sword duels and even 10-paces-turn-and-draw gun duels.
I am thoroughly excited about this game, but am getting a little scared due to the lack of information. Yes the swordplay and gunplay are probably going to be amazing. Yes, the scenery and setting look great. But in the end, that alone isn't going to be enough to keep this game afloat. I want a deep game with character development, among other things. I don't just want to go from area to area shooting and stabbing dudes. I want a game I will hold onto and play again and again.
Did anyone here ever play GUN? I am hoping RS2 will be like that, only with the obvious improvements that GUN needed.

Good story telling and character development is very important in recent games and I hope that Ubi will do a better job in RS2 than RS1. With all the time that they are spending on this game, the story should be involving.

That and the fact that they have created an all new combat system, that awesome opening sequence, general polishing, stylized graphics, voice acting, among other things, are the reasons why there's this silence. Hopefully they're working hardly, not hardly working.

Some more questions aimed at the Devs:
- The Red Steel 2 header at the top of this forum shows us artwork from Red Steel 2. Will we see this kind of art in the game?
(Can we expect an Artbook as well?)
- In an Interview you guys said there where 3 types of grunt classes. That seems a bit low or does it mean that each grunt class can be divided into different grunt enemies as well?
- Are boss fights an intergral part of the Red Steel 2 Stage designs?

I have a few questions/sugestions: will explosives be used as a weapon, if so will it be for for the Swordsman or for enemies? Dynamite has appeared in western movies and fireworks or firecrackers originated in Asia, using one or both would fit in with the east and west theme. What will it be for getting to the levels or the shops, will it be a hub system? Will you find the shops in the levels? Or will it be a map select? Can you go back to the same areas but with new places to explore, tougher enemies or just to get more money? Will there be cash earning minigames like a shooting gallery? Will you add amode similar to firefight in ODST. where you try to beat waves of enemies? could you post your score online or even play with people across Wi-Fi? I hope you take some of these things into consideration. Thank you.

Since the game doesn't have enough gun-special-attacks I think I've come up with one...since the sword has a 360-attack why can't the gun have one? Of corse, this would look ridiculos with a revolver but with a shotty it might just work. It is like the sword 360 but instead of going slow-mo when you hit someone it's slow-mo all time so that you can shoot enemys easily...this would might work in the air to, but it would look odd in third-person but this is a first-person game so why not?
Also more gun attacks by you guys! (Both Ubi and "the major forum-guys" (a new title (that is easier to understand))).....wow, I just did three parenthesis on a row....man!
And air battle (jump attacks and acrobatics and such) is cool so it wouldn't hurt with you making some more of that...thanks!

what do you think about extra complicated moves that would get you a big cash bonus, like shooting a guy in the leg jumping off him while he is crouching to do an extra high jump stab on a different enemy
Fender0

Wah? Are you asking me or Ubi? Well, anyway your idea sounds complex but decent but stabbing the same enemy you shot would be better...I think so..

Well Ubi, as a big fan of collectibles and hidden stuff (and especially collectibles that unlocks something, especially collectibles that unlocks things that raises the replay value) I wonder if you're implementing puzzle mechanics to get to places that aren't neccesary but holds a secret/collectible...EXAMPLE(!): To reach an edge you have to do the lift move and then jump after the enemy and then jump off the enemy (getting even higher) so that you can reach that area...complicated but especially fun...
(Btw I jused an espacielly certain word.....guess what!)

to the devs: what is stopping the player from using special moves throughout the game, like if I just used the shockwave all the time ruining the fun of the fights? Will you add an extra bar that if its empty you can't use special moves, or will it have a charge up time before youcan use it

I just got an idea for a mini-boss weapon, the kanabe. I believe it was mentioned on a different topic, but basically it is a big wooden block with spikes or studs covered on it. somebody might have suggested it before but Im not 100% sure

hey listen no need to go all caps on me, the main part of my question was if they were going to add an energy bar that would refill over time. because for me the charge up time was a little fast.
EDIT: I looked at the video again and I did notice the charge time. I was too distracted by the awesomeness the first time I watched it

Fender0
11-08-2009, 08:31 AM
Well, you should have payed more attention again! Atleast, this is what I think; the health regains if you don't get hurt for a while so yeah, healing in a combat shouldn't be to hard with good blocking and dodging http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

this is where you're wrong, I have paid attention to this and the only time you regain health is directly after you beat a group of enemies. so if you are in the middle of a battle at low health you would want to use a healing item.

To solve is issue for both of you fine gentlemen here is my answer. In RS1, when I was in a heated fire-fight, (which was all the time), When I just ducked for cover or hid out in some alcove, my health regenerated. My theory is if you can go 5-10 sec w/ no damage, your health will regain. Unless you are Miyamoto Musashi, there is no way in hell a player could take out a room full of Jackels, (or worse yet Ninja), w/ one health bar. On the higher difficulties, that may be a factor though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif. Just block, strafe, doge and run like heck if your flashing red http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif. later.

To add to my response, in most FPS, (Quantum of Solice, RS1, etc...) now a days, if the player can go without damage for a short time, health should regain. If it didn't, there would be a lot of P.O.ed gamers.

Guys, as much as you may love bashing "n00bs", he's right. For every battle you have one set health bar that only fills back up once the fight is over, from what we know now. This isn't only from observation, Mr. Vandenberghe himself said it at some point in a video somewhere. I just tried to find it, but to no avail.
And, once more, we've started a discussion in the Q&A topic. Try to keep it elsewhere, guys...

It's definitely been confirmed by Jason that your health bar automatically refills after each "stage" (or group of enemies). Like SMBX said, it was in one of the earlier videos.
To bluepanda: For the record, the shockwave is actually quite a weak attack and primarily used as a projectile/stunning attack (the latter when they get pushed against a wall). Hope that clears some things up.
I do know where you're coming from though. The "lift" seems kind of overpowered to me (from some demos i've seen it take away 3/4 of the enemy health bar with subsequent hits leading to instant kills). Perhaps this will be addressed with the stronger enemies of the game since it's introduced later.
That said, it's been showcased on jackals only for demonstrative purposes and probably won't be necessary early on in the game. I'm sure it'll become a necessity for the more difficult enemies.
Fender0
11-09-2009, 08:42 AM
A little question:
-When you hit a enemy with "the lift" and they go up and hit a wall, can you stab them against the wall?

That would be interesting since some of the bonus content is different swords. I wonder if you can buy new swords if your sword breaks(since you could break enemy swords in RS1). Good question.

11-13-2009, 06:01 PM
Sword breaking huh. That would make the game very interesting in the survival aspect. The way you have to open doors in RS2, no wonder your sword would break (lol). That is actually a very good point,(as usual Fender). Ubi, care to share some feedback?

The only problem with this is that if your sword breaks mid-level, you're pretty much screwed... Look at the ninjas, I mean. People had a lot of trouble taking on two at once with a sword, imagine how hard it would be without one! It's possible, but really freakin' hard I guess.
Actually, if they had a little meter that showed how close your sword is to breaking, then the above would be like a punishment for not planning ahead and buying a new sword before your current one breaks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
Blue_panda_123
11-14-2009, 04:43 PM
Personally I don't think having your sword break is a good idea. I have thought about it and it would be very tedious to buy or repiar your sword every few levels. Although it would be very funny to be in the middle of a battle with a Ninja and your your sword breaks in two http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
But maybe if your enemies sword could break...

Giving the core gameplay mechanic a major handicap doesn't seem very wise... Maybe they can incorporate it to punish wagglers and violent flailing but the thought of having to be reserved all the time just doesn't sound very appealing.

I looked into that. I think that UPlay is a 7th gen exclusive (Wii is like a sixth gen unfortunatly). Unfortunatly Ubi is more smitten w/ Sony ad Microsoft. Hopefully after this game comes out it may make them rethink their philosophy on consoles. Flashy graphics and sound don't always win the day. Gameplay will always win. these so-called "hardcore" games has to get off their lard butts and realize that. BTW...that really was a good question. Game looks great. A little worried about the WM+ (Played Wii Sports Resort at a Kiosk) but I'll still take the plunge.
What, if anything, are you planning to do to extend replayability? Things like unlockable weapons on a 2nd playthrough, alternate costumes, other playable characters (if it makes sense storywise), keeping your equipment (ala Resident Evil 4), and/or an additional difficulty setting would be great.
EDIT: Just thought of this.. if the game's combat is as great as it looks. What about a survival mode to see how many waves of enemies you can take out?

Because in your 3rd December Q&A you said that you cant manipulate virtual space to make us stop in midair haha thanks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm not sure if this is completely covered but I'll just go on and say it anyway. Now you guys say that strong slashes are produced by fast long slashes; in other words proper real life sword swings.
From my practical understanding (wii sports resort etc) and rather amateur knowledge of the wii remote and motion plus, why can't a simple quick flick that covers a large angular arc work as effectively as a typical sword swing?
This is mostly assuming the accelerometer measures swing speed regardless of length in space and that the gyrometer only detects angular movement. To be fair my question is kind of... confusing, but I sometimes wonder whether the technology will cheated regardless of your efforts.
Otherwise, maybe I should read over some of the Q&As again.

The wii remote with the wii motion plus can sense where the controller is in a 3D space. Instead of playing wii tennis with just the flick of your wrist, RS2 makes it so you have to truly make your swings or you won't last long against your opponents.

Well the thing is I'm not sure if it can. The gyrometer seems to only detect anglular positioning not placing in 3D space. Say I kept my wii remote at a certain angle and moved my arm to the right; that will not be truly reflected onscreen (or at least not very well).
But that's besides the point, I'm really just asking for a super detailed explanation for how they can beat the waggle just out of curiosity.

Plus, it's worth asking again. This is the only thing I really care about, everything else has been answered or in my mind isn't that important.
To me, if a game is less than 15 hours it is really hard to justify a purchase at full price. RS2's single player looks like it has the potential to be short. So my question is whether there will be an incentive to keep playing. Hopefully there is.

This may or may not have anything to do w/ RS but I saw something this weekend that was cool. The new Ubi game, Your Shape, contains a new motion camara. It is no NATAL but still impressive. Will Ubi make any action games that require the motion camara? Maybe RS3 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Quick question, the shockwave is used much like throwing a frisbee. Will it be as merciless as the frisbee in Wii Sports Resort? or will you make it little easier to use?
Personally, I blame the dog for not running fast enough to catch the frickin frisbee! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Not to brake your expectations Sajayin, but that thing is just a thing...nothing more. A third-party camera that's made for one game isn't too much to get excited for...first-party I would understand...but cameras isn't so good for videogames, I personally like the wand more than natal for example....atleast you can shove it up an *** because of the shape...look at it!

Hey Jason, thanks for taking so many questions it's really getting me amped for the game. But I have a few questions myself.
One, this is just a small question; In the last game I don't mean to put down RS1 because I enjoyed it really but last time the voice acting was kind of a problem. Have you done anything or tried to improve on that specifically.
Two, I've heard you hint at us but what exactly should we expect from this game's story? And will we see the entire city? (like the huge towers that I've noticed in all the art)
Three, will you ever really exploit our nameless hero or planning to keep him mysterious all through RS2?
I don't really have any questions control wise because honestly it looks excelent and I am very positive that the game will be a big deal for me in Febuary. You guys have really done a lot and given me something to look forward to really. Keep up the awesometastic work guys! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But as far as I can tell there will be easter eggs but that Nintendo Power (if I'm right) was issued before E3 and they were still in quite a hauling phase then. I'm really thinking they plan this to be it's own world and trust me it looks awesome enough to were you won't mind the dissapearance of the last game. According to what I've seen so far the shotgun can carry two shots at a time, and when you shoot only one shot "dissapears", does that mean you shoot from one pipe at a time? If so, can you make a more powerful shot by shooting from both pipes at a time? You know, to feed those enemies with an extra hunger for lead...

-How are you keeping the game from beeing repetitive? If you are (wich I hope you are; 'cause a good game can be ruined by beeing to repetitive) how are you doin' it? Any stages/section of the game that works completly different aside from the rest? Minigames (like the safecracker-one) are fun but it just won't do it for the rest of the game, so how is variety in this game?

-Tell us more about the dual-wielding:
-Does it work with all guns (for example shotgun)?
-Do you fire both with the [B] button or is there a button assigned for both?
-Do you aim both with the same pointer (though it would be best, and it's very obvious)?
-If you only have one button for both, do they both fire at the same time or do they "take turns"?
-Can you reload both at once, or one at a time (and is it different for different weapons?)?
-Can use it whenever you want?
-And finally, can you wield a combination of different guns?
All for this time folks, goodbye!

Hate to ask this, because I'm sure we've asked many times before, but any update on the status of DLC?
I know it depends on how well the game itself actually sells, and the willingness for people to actually go get it, but I think Rock Band 2's DLC works very well and proves the Wii can have a fairly streamlined DLC experience.
No idea how many assets you could fit in a 'block', but multiplayer could be possible, right? You could reuse most of the level assets, and it probably doesn't take much space to add extra guns and GUI elements. Would need to make third-person views of the hero, I s'pose...
Anyways, just wondering if the folks at Ubi have given it any thought.

After playing through the original Red Steel, it occurred to me that we have yet to see a robust shooter experience in Red Steel 2.
For instance, "Will enemy AI take cover and attack in an intelligent manner?"
It's a very standard feature but it's still a concern whether or not this was implemented. So far we've only seen enemy AI shoot from a distance in a stationary position (in an open area) or as a form of approach such as one of the ninja types (aka ninja with an automatic pistol in the mining town demo).
In general, "will we see a more creative and tactical response from the enemy AI? (especially in regards to gunplay)"

Hey, was just wondering if by any chance, will there be any additional content released after the released date? Knowing that your goal is to create a quality single player experience and complete it within the time frame and available resources, I am a little curious if it'd be possible to release expansion software or downloadable content that might include bonus challenges or levels or even maybe a multiplayer component. That would be really cool.

Next theme will be the Red Steel 2 universe.
What do you want to know about the land of Caldera ..? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

curious about the temple stage and other stanges that are in planning. we know about the abandoned town and the mining village. We saw what what could have been a bit of the temple stage w/ the Payne battle. Can't wait for this update!

Is Caldera the whole land and not just the city? In that case,
-what are ALL different places/stages (like the mining town and the city of Caldera)?
-Are there living people anywhere? I know the inhabitants left but are there any remaining?
Will there be a map, not for stages ('cause everyone already knows that) but for the whole world of Caldera?
It's not really on-topic but now is the time to answer this good old question; How many hours is the campaign?

I know I asked this before but didn't get answered so;
-Will there be exploration stages/parts?
EDIT: Btw, 500th post on this thread! Congratulations devs.!

- Is there going to be some non desert stages (grass, Ice ...)?
- Is there going to be some high-tech objects and can you use them (Computers, Phones ...) ?
thanks for helping us
