When ever I get in a position to WMD, I follow 4 Basic Rules with 1 being the most important.
- Always use a WMD on an Uplink, not on Units.
- Never Hit an Uplink on your side of the map.
- Do not hit an Uplink which you think you could capture in the future.
- Hit the Uplink which you find the hardest to obtain.
So if I'm playing as EFEC, this means hitting Whiskey, beacuse that's the one Uplink which I have never gotten.
Additional:
-If your losing, Do not use a WMD until you are in a position to capture an Enemy Uplink right after use of the WMD.
What strategies do you guys favor when it comes to WMD's?

I personally use a WMD when either A) theres 2-3 units bunched together with full health or B) when units are being deployed near an uplink.

1 alwasy try to use WMD on grouped units or a good defensive line before a attack because crash is used to destroy an uplink completely evening the odds
2 If 1 is not possible hit upgraded link to disable enemy support.
3 If 3 will not help situation use wmd on enemy artillary or command vehicle to disable heavy assault or fast recon ability of command vehicle

two small forces moving in both for uplinks on far away from each other
use uav to see where majority of enemy force is
hit large force of enemy with WMD wile at the same time attacking both uplinks
one will be bound to succeed
then airstrike their artillery

And Thus we reach my most important stratagy, That I invented before i even started playing the game!
Step1: tell your units to move to an uplink
Step2: tell your units to sucure the uplink
Step3: tell your units to move AWAY from Uplink
Step4: During step three, make sure that you infintry are garrisoned or better. your Tanks are flanking the Uplink, Youre transports are flanking the other side of the uplink, and the gunships are behined the uplink. This is assuming your on the defensive and you've got the right units.
Step5: GET THE HELL OUTTA THERE! Run, Advance, (once there foaght off), take them out! Rally! And Most importantly...
dont be a jerk, wait until the downed units are gone and then leave.

You'd be surprised at how much it needs to be said.

My retaliatory WMD is usually preserved until the enemy starts to secure one of my uplinks. Then I hit that uplink.

Because they think it will take the uplink out of the game...

Use of a WMD should be determined by if you are winning or losing. That is the key...
