I don't expect a formal response to this, but is there a reason why respawn can't be set when playing Co-op TH ? GRAW2 has it built in by default and yet Vegas doesn't....very annoying I must say.

its a server option...but most hosts are R6 fans and never turn this option on
this is the first Rainbow Six game that has respawns...i hate the fact that its an option
any pure rainbow six fan will tell you that no-respawn forces you to be a better player...you take your time, make more one shot kills, work with your team, use team work and set up a plan - use tactics and make tactical desicions...all this came from no respawns
some will argue that all this can be used with respawns...sure it can...but respawns doesnt make you a better player...you will take more chances and die more often - having respawns in a co-op game will show who the R6 Purists are and those that play consoles and other kiddie games - IMO
i run what im told one of the hardest Co-Op Story servers - ive modded the .INIs and though we have a lil bit more ammo and frags, silencers, laser sights are more accurate and the weapons a hitting harder - the AI see the same changes - i get respawn requests all the time...it never gets turned on...most players will follow me around which is fine but not needed...i need them to enter the room at a different angle...i havent played in 6 months but still end up with most of the kills (3:1 ratio)
im not trying to flame the OP but wanted to explain why you dont see many respawn servers out there and i hope i explained it for you in some way

I'm not particularly interested in the l33tness of R6 fans or the philosophy of how activating respawns potentially results in noobness....I, as your average non-l33t-joe-smuck, playing Vegas on a home LAN, would simply welcome the possibility of respawning when I die....and yes, I do die on occasion I might add.
If you really want to be a helpful individual, you could perhaps provide instructions on how to run a server and activate this option (if it's not thru the GUI). I'm really not interested in being l33t....I leave that up to others ;-)

after starting a server hit esc again and you can change it there under the server settings (match settings) - for some dumb reason they didnt put all the server settings in the create match menu

Yeah...we R6 players are so leet...which is why we had 3rd person view as a crutch for so long.

Well, I can't find the respawn option anywhere when launching a co-op TH match regardless of dedicated or not. I've also tried editing all pertinent INI files that I could find that contain "respwan=false".
Is there nobody out there that can assist with this ? All I need to know is whether it's even possible without running a dedicated server....and if it is, what needs to be edited to allow respawns....again, I want to launch a match in non-dedicated server mode since I don't have a fourth PC with a compatible video card that I could use as the server (I have plenty of PC's that could act as servers, but no shader 3 video card).

I agree that respawns in coop TH to make LAN play a little more fun would be great. Sometimes I only play with one other person, if he gets waxed early on, its not much fun for him to just sit and watch me play!

Any game regardless of it's "pedigree" should have the ability to have respawns in co-op. And yeah, you'll probably find just about every "good" server with them turned off.
But when you're playing a "private" co-op match with one friend on a huge map, having no respawn sucks. We have an arbitrary "rule" about finishing the map alone depending on how many perps are left. But if you're the last one left with a bunch of perps still on the map, we commit suicide. Otherwise, just too much gaming time is wasted - something we don't have a lot of .

Yes, we use the same "rule" during a 3 player co-op TH...our goal is for all players to survive the map...but sometimes doing the map over and over and over becomes somewhat tedious.
GRAW2 has respawns in co-op mode by default, albeit you respawn right at the beginning of the map, so I'm missing this feature in Vegas co-op TH.

im reformatting and installing vista but when i get a chance ill take a look around and see if i can find it
ive had respawns on before but cant remember how i did it without having the game installed atm...gimme a few and ill see if i can get this working for you

My wife and I love playing coop and this is a huge deal for us. We found that in coop story mode, we could activate player respawns, but not in coop terrorist hunt. I have no idea why.
When I read this thread, I became hopeful because I thought maybe they added this feature since the last patch (haven't played for about 2-3 months). But it looks to me like people are mistaking terrorist hunt for story mode.
Sigh... such a simple thing. Why can't they just add this already?

While I agree with you that less crutches forces people to play better, some people don't play this game to achieve some magical greatness amongst peers.
I'm an above average to excellent player, myself. My wife is about average and she just doesn't have the reflexes and accuracy to go much beyond that. 95% of the time, she gets killed in the first 5 minutes. It's no fun for her to sit there and watch me for the remainder of the match and it's no fun for me to play knowing she is just watching.
After a while, we just stopped playing TH and stuck with the story mode, which really limits what we can do in the game.
Ya know, if they made respawns the default and locked it that way, I would totally understand your gripe. But you hating the fact that the "option" exists for us other players just reeks of selfishness. Get over yourself, not everyone plays to achieve whatever your mind dictates R6 is "supposed" to be. My wife and I just play to have a good time playing together. Leave us with our piece of the pie, we are not interested in yours.
