Does anything work correctly in this game???
Rarely saves information correctly. (sink 3 ships / at end of patrol... Ships sunk 0).
Reach patrol area... game says not reached. And whats with the amniesiatic crew that forgets what they are supposed to do and when to do it? Do I really need to micro manage each crew member in the middle of a battle? Why don't they make me tell them when to go to the bathroom and where the bathroom is? Even the patch wont install. When SH3 says they need your help, they REALLY MEAN IT. What a shame... the game HAD real potential. Not only did I waste my money (and time trying over and over to get a career started that would save info correctly) but now I have to delete all the spam I'm going to get for having to give my email just to sign up and complain about what an unholy pos this game is. Thank you very little.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

You need to be introduced to the wonderful world of MODs. But, given the tone of your post, I will not provide any help. Find the stuff on your own.

Pcxotto, did you upgrade to version 1.4b, via the latest patch?

If you did, then I suggest you restart your career. Before you attack your first ship, do a game save. This is just for the first patrol of a new career.

If afterwards you need to exit your patrol before completing it, always do a double save as follows:

1. Press ESC and click on SAVE. Give your save point an appropriate name.

2. Click on CONTINUE to go back into your patrol and immediately press ESC again. This time click on SAVE & EXIT and give this 2nd save point an irrelevant name, like "delete".

When you return to your patrol the next time you play, select the savepoint prior to the one named "delete".

See if the above resolves your problems.

My dear chap/gal, as the Avon lady says. UPGRADE to V1.4b - The previous versions were just BUGs and 1.4b is a vast improvements.

Going beyond that, while YOU are in the Kriegsmarine you'd better show a better attitude that that. You are responsible for one of Germany's finest UBoats and above all have a full compliment of crew to manage. If you cannot meet the high standard required for Kaleuns, we will ship you off the the mud-shifting army (FPS's) of the eastern front.
If you know nothing of war at sea, I suggest you start reading and fast...

With an aggresive attitude like this we'd welcome you, but you must learn to manage this appropiately, as we need intelligent, AGGRESSIVE, commanders.

Good Luck

There is no space for haters in here.

The popularity of these forums is testament to the success of SH3.

If you can't ask for advice in a polite, friendly way, then go back to your Nintendo and leave us alone to help people who deserve it.

I'm guessing you have a custom built system. Not to say anything bad about custom built systems, it just seems that most people with problems don't have out of the box systems. Not to say they ALL have problems, it just seems that the majority with problems have custom builds. Just my 2 cents.

I beg to differ, If anything boxed system are MORE likely to have problems (in general) than a custom pc built by someone who knows what hes doing, companies like DELL/ packard bell/ Advent etc, will use the cheapest sub standard parts they can lay their greedy hands on - in order to maximise profit. Though they often sell systems at a near loss, they make there money back from rip off after sales services.

I have a modest self built custom pc that cost me a mere â£600 at the time, Athlon 64 3000/ 1gb ram/ 6600GT. It ran SH3 out of the box just fine (and still does with 1.4/IUB/SHE commander) even starforce didnt manage to screw my DVDRW over, it also runs the other 20 or so games i own equally well (Battlefield 2/fear/Doom 3 etc.)
My girlfriends pc is a Pentium 4 2.5 with 512 RAM bought from PC world and JESUS it runs slow for those specs! even when with winxp freshly installed, it is still slower than my second machine which is an Athlon xp 2000 with the same amount of RAM. Why?? cr@ppy no-name motherboard and hard drive- thats why.

Dont buy branded pcs if you can help it, if you cant build a system your self, there are plenty of stores out there that will do it for you and guide you through the right components.

It shouldnt really matter what system you own when it comes to pc games (so long as you meet the min requirements.
If you seriously want to be a pc gamer you need to be able to:

1) be prepared to spend a little cash on keeping your machine up to spec)

2) be prepared to search for, download and install patches, drivers and updates.

3)be patient and prepeared to learn how to trouble shoot by yourself.

4)come to terms with and accept the fact that regardless of your setup, there will always be a few games and programs that just wont work well on it. It happens.

If you dont meet the requirement of 1 to 4 and you are the type who kicks and screams the moment something dont work, then its time to shut up and buy an xbox. You have to help your self before others can help you.
And before you start all that "but im a paying customer BS" please try and program a peice of software as complex as a game and have it run flawlessly on a zillion different hardware setups, can you do that??? huh?

Yeah, I used to recommend Dell as in the old days they built PCs with equipment off the shelves. Now they are just as bad selling their own proprietary parts that cause no end of headaches when you want to upgrade, and their cases are a joke.

Funny, of all the problems I've had with SHIII losing sunk ships and saved game corruptions is not one of them. But I updated to 1.4b right away so maybe that's it. Du da update.

I got my latest system custom built and it ran SH3 right out of the box, after, of course, immediately installing the 1.4b patch. In fact, I ordered this system in order to play SH3. Any time I buy a new game I always look on the internet to see if there is a patch available.

My buddy just bought a Dell piece of c-r-a-p which caused him headaches right out of the box. I advised him to go to my custom shop, but no, he had to "save" a few bucks and bought the cheaper system.

well put ..i agree i built both systems here ..the wifes..my first system and my new system..companys like dell/gateway are great for grandma ...building your own in my view is the only answer..if you know how..or have 1 built to your own specs..it's a real joke to have friends call or stop over with a problem on a dell ..i just refuse to try to unf..k them..there are cheap junk..hard coded cpu's and a multitude of other unknown bugs..i enjoy upgrading my systems with new componets as they come availible..i put in the x-fi extreame sound card 2 days ago..and am enjoying it very much..also having your os on disk is the only to go ..try to rebuild a system without the os on disk?..right..system restore..now thats a joke..how bloated can your regestry get?..need to reformat?..ask dell for help..buy a 300 dollar dell with the support option for a year?..do you think you are going to be first in line for tech support?..or how about that real beef http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gify power supply they gave you..lmmfao..building your own is the only option...

I've never heard of a hard-coded CPU. How does that work? My buddy had some problem with his new Dell. He tried to do the Windows Update routine and somehow his machine messed up. Dell didn't send him a Windows CD. How do they get away with that? I thought "reputable" companies are supposed to send original discs for all the loaded software.

I'll be learning a lot of this stuff starting Monday. I'm going off to school to learn computers and networking, hoping to get my MCSA ticket.

They give you the Licence for windows and provide you with a recovery disk, which really sucks, much better to have the proper os disk you can install on any machine. MS put a stop to the bundeling of windows with new systems back in 2001 (unless you pay extra for it)
Your mates windows update problems could have been caused by anything.

The problem with my friend's new computer was that it was somehow so screwed up that he wanted to reformat the hard drive but couldn't because Dell didn't send him an OS disc. They ship it with Windows, they should ship it with the OS disc, not some crappy "restore" disc.

Since he didn't take my advice to get his machine from a proper shop, he's on his own with Dell.

Hard-Coded CPU. Never heard of this before, but I imagine it's like embedding the Windoze OS onto the CPU chip. OOOooo! this is a No...NO for the fight for "Intellectual Freedom".

wot Bill is trying to do here is CONTROL every aspect of your and your PC's life. AND considering the hammering old Bill is getting from 'FREE' Linux OS's I'd say he's running scared.
