I have RVS version 1.2 installed (brazilian version), and every time I start the game its show the message "insert correct cd...".

I read all the others posts about this problem but no one worked for me.

Some information:
- I dont have a virtual drive installed. (Alcohol, daemon etc)
- My MB isnt a Nforce MB (is VIA)
- I'm running it from a DVD drive, but I have a CDR drive too (already tried to disabled it, no sucess).
- I cant install version 1.3 because Ubi dont release a patch for my region.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Yeah I'm having the same problems too. I did everything all the other threads said to do and it still doesn't work. It happened with 1.2. 1.1 didn't have trouble and nor did 1.0. I seriously want my money back or some kind of explanation from Ubi people. This has been happening to a lot of people and you guys are ignoring us.
Please someone help because I want to game again.

If you were using a no-cd crack before appling the 1.2 patch, you will need to do a clean install of the game.

In fact, it's probably a good idea to do a clean install of the game anyways. To do this, uninstall the game, and then manually delete the leftover Ravenshield folder. Once that is complete, reinstall the game and immdediately install the 1.2 patch.

I'll check tomorrow and see what the deal is with the Portugese (I'm assuming that's the language you have) 1.3 patch.

it still isn't working. I tried uninstalling and cleaning it out and installing again twice and didn't work. My question is what did you guys do to 1.2 and 1.3? It works perfectly for me on 1.1 and 1.0. You guys need to work on this problem i see a lot of people aren't getting it to work and you guys like ignored it. Please man help me I want to play again. Also i heard 1.3 was going to fix it and it sure doesn't look like it did.

Why can't UBI fix this problem. I've seen so many people have problems and yet no tech support has helped. Whats with this?

Sheesh dude! JJ gives you a "possible" solution, that unfortunately sounds like it did not work and you blast him saying he is ignoring you. Give em some slack. At least he posted a "possible" solution.

You wouldn't happen to have Nero installed, do you? Nero has a built in virtual cd device. I know that there is a way to turn that function off, but I'm not familiar enough with nero to remember how to do it.

If anyone else knows what I'm talking about, please help me out =).

I cant try another drive (dont have any other) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I could ask for replacement but im afraid it will not work because looks like its a problem with the new SafeDisc not with the CD game.

Anyway thanks people.
If someone find another solution, post it here. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

EA support passed these 2 solutions:

Option 1: If you have Windows XP or Windows 2000, make another account with admin privilegies. Install and play the game from this account. (This worked for me)

Option 2:
- type MSConfig(ME And XP) in the "Run..." box and click OK.
- uncheck Load startup programs, autoexec.bat and config.sys
- Click OK and restart.
- Go to device manager, IDE/ATAPI Controllers, goto to properties of Primary IDE Channel and int the Advanced Settings tab change the transfer mode to PIO for both devices.
Repeat the process for the Secundary IDE Channel.
- Restart, Install the game.

This still sounds like a NERO issue. Nero is very very picky, it does not wany ANY other CD burning programs anywhere near it and will lock everything else out that has anything to do with your cdrw drive. When you uninstalled Nero did you clean the registry too? Did you look for left over files and folders from nero. Just uninstalling a progam from the uninstaller does not always work and generally will always leave traces of whatever software program here and there. Glad to hear you finally go it working though, hopefully the fun of the game will make your frustrations a bit more eased.

Good Hunting!

Nero was installed with the other account too and still working.

I am trying to track the diferences between my original account and this new.
I will look the registry, maybe it has some tips.thanks /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Now i have another problem: localized versions suck. They really suck when UBI dont realize a patch to your country and you have to stick with version 1.2 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif .

The game runs from disk 2, not disk one. I noticed that before the 1.3 update, the game would actually tell you to insert disk 2 if you had tried it with disk 1.. hope this helps
