Hey guys i have a 6800gt and the hiccups under sm3.0 are bugging me, and costing me kills. When i change my lighting from very high to high i get ps 1.1, i dont want that. i want ps 2.0, can somone tell me what i have to do to get it to read ps2.0 Thanks!

If you are talking about MP stuttering then i do not get it then. I have shadows at medium along with other settings and only lighting at very high to enable sm3.0. This gives me a stutter at the first shot fired on a map but very few after that .

The only command i have managed to find like the one we need is \g_NV30_renderpath , or something like that anyway.

I want to try this too m8 as i get almost no differance in performance on mp as to whether i have 1.1 or 3.0 enabled .

Tried the command but it dont work, i think you have to be in devmode to enable 2.0

Well, if by some reason you don't want to use sm3.0 you may set r_NoPS30 to 1 and if your spec is set to VeryHigh ps2.0 will be engaged.

Ty Blob ,do you have any input into why we are getting this stutter effect with SM3.0 ? As we are just bumbling buffoons and i assume you would understand the causes of this much better .

Gain has posted that the 66.93 drivers are working for him but i am very wary of those due to the amount of people having problems with them. It seems they either work for your pc or not at all.

That stuttering effect when you shoot first time caused by decal shaders (compiled code) loading on demand in Farcry. And it has nothing to do with SM 3.0. If it happens without any shooting and SM 3.0 is on then it might be some delays in shader code caching process. Especially if a hard disk with high fragmentation. Could be with any shader model. Nothing specific with SM 3.0.

This stutterinf effect is slighty different , everyone seems to get the stutter on first shot .
In this case it is a massive stutter when a merc fires at you in a dark room at close range . The entire screen freezes for a second whilst the game continues, this happens no matter how long you have been on a level and whether your hard drive is defragged or not .

I would guess a dynamic shadow problem myself as it doesnt happen when a merc is further away and firing . Or sound maybe .
