I was playing a single mission with a XXI sub, detected by two destroyers, i launched 2 torps at one of them. Apparently they missed. But a few minutes later i see the torps turned back and were chasing the destroyer all over the place, they really were following him. Finally one torp got him. But that's not all, the other torp changes course and starts chasing the remaining destroyer, and got him too. I've never seen that before, is this normal, or has it to do with the realism settings?

most likely they are homing torpedos. The like to feast on the sound of propellars.

Yup, I was quite amused to see one of them bounce for 4 or 5 times on the rudder of a destroyer before hitting it again exploding....pretty determinated fish was that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Those seem to be acoustic homing torpedos (T5 or also called Zaunköning or GNAT))and intended to be escort-killers.
After what Iâ´ve read aobut them, historically they were pretty reliable for ships running at 7knots or above. If below, the noise from the propellers was not loud enough to get the fishes home on it.
On the other hand (I donâ´t think this is modelled in the sim) most escort ships developed a mechanism called CAT which was a kind of net with loud sound decoys deployed astern the ships and which provided an effective screen to avoid this kind of torpedoes. Nevertheless, the bad thing about this device was that Asdics lost accuracy because of the noise it made.
