View Full Version : Athena Sword AI update?

When I play the campaign mission my AI backup are running over me and I have to run through them to get anywhere. Also, when I run through them, they run out in the action and get shot. They are kind of all over the place.

The other thing is frame rates are really slow. Very few times would it run good on Raven Shield and now the new mission pack runs the same as well.

What I have never understood is why teh heck the terros are so much more "skilled" in every concievable way than your teamates? Arent most of your guys supposed to be former spec ops members? Ding was a CIA agent and in the US army infantry; Eddie Price was in the Special Air Service; Dieter Weber was in the German GSG-9; Louis Loiselle was French Spec Ops(Paratroopers); etc. Are the terros mercenaries who were former special forces themselves? I guess all the RvS terros are former Navy SEALs. Too bad for Rainbow huh?

ya, the AI is STUPID as HELL when it comes to certain things.

i say a simple fix would be to press the hold button before you go into somewhere or a situation that might get them killed.

yes AI should be fixed, but who knows how to? i dont think ubi will do it at all. mabe when the SDK comes out someone might be able to make AI as smart as PODBOT was for Counterstrike. granted it wasnt the best, but i think it was smarter. guessing anyways.

When I did the campaign, I found out that having the other two teams (AI controlled) moving at the same time as my team only ended up in them getting killed.

What I ended up doing was abandoning most of the plan, and just taking down buildings as I saw fit to end the mission. I put ALL teams on hold and just used one team of 3 to do all the work. It wasn't even necessary to use a 2nd team to 'cover' the first one, as might have proved useful in, say, the Ghost Recon campaign.

I will say this, though. Having to do everything myself resulted in me spending more time on the campaign and thus getting much more out of it. If they made the allied AI real good, then they'd end up doing all the killing. That would be no fun.

Having to plan a mission sucks, anyway. I prefer the GR-style approach, which is to constantly evaluate the situation and then make decisions based on that. Too bad the in-game team controls aren't built around that concept. (It worked so well in Ghost Recon.) Combine that with some better team AI and I think you'd have a better solution than what we're using right now.

Oh well... I still think the SP aspect of RvS is pretty cool. Could use some improvements, but I don't want to list those and get off-topic.

Your teammates usually are better shooters than the terros, but they just don't check their surroundings for terros so the terros kill your team easily. I think the terro AI is good most of the time (except when they can't see through just a bit of smoke) but teammate AI is really stupid.

My main issue is movement and room takedown tatics. They do not aggressively clear a room like they should and it pisses me off to no end.

SWAT4 was supposed to be my savior but that died. Hopefully R6-4 will get an AI upgrade.

I've ordered my team mate to open a door and frequently my team mate gets hit because he's standing in the middle of the door way like a complete idiot. He should be standing to the side of the door and letting me or other team mates cover while he opens the door. When he standing in the middle, none of us can really cover for him !! GOod god !!

lmao, i knew that was the only answer. its the only answer were going to get for any fixes.. of course with the team ubi has i doubt we will see any thing of that nature. if they cant even fix up our game as is. especially the AI.

i guess i rant now the way i am because im feed up. i keep hearing info all around now, and as before.. im trying to keep it in as much as possible, but one day its going to burst and go up on fansites and whatnot. all the crap that goes on. you forum guys dont know everything thats going on oviously. i dont blame you.

MindlessOath there is a difference between a fix and upgrading something.

An ai upgrade would be a large task and would be something done in a future product, not something most devs add in a patch. Nothing is broken with the ai right now, it just isn't as smart as I would like. Then again I can find faults in any ai in any game.

Ubi has been working on fixes for the game. People can debate all they want if they work or not, but they are trying to fix things, and for the most part the patches do fix what they set out to do.
