I'm thinking the reason for this is so people can't boost the whispers track incredibly high to make it super easy to tell where or how close someone is....

being able to isolate and boost whispers on AC would be like being able to isolate and boost footstep noises in a FPS game.

Like siterep pro in MW2, perhaps?

The whispers are essential for gameplay. In fact, the tutorial encourages you to listen for the whispers. I like to turn the music volume down a bit (because it is insanely loud and distracting) but I don't want to hinder my gameplay as a result.

If I adjust the brightness of the game, is it going to make my character run slower? No. So why should adjusting the volume of the game music affect my character's hearing?

The whispers in ACR are way less discernable than they were in ACB. Particularly in Venice, where the Herald's voice echoes under the building (that's next to the tall tower). http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Yeah this irritates the heck out of me too. I'm tired of having to listen to the music so damn loud just to hear the whispers, especially when playing late at night. Ubisoft, for not fixing this, you recieve yet another shame-on-you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I have to agree. The music gets WAAAAAAAAY too loud at some points and don't even get me started on how loud the NPC's can get!

this wont effect me much because i never use whispers.

though i think its nice it makes it not so obvious so a defense player cant go into uber awesome ice cream defense mode as soon as you go near it makes them have to listen hard for it

I think that the only shame is that the settings are shared between the single player and the multiplayer.

There are times that I want to replay through the games, but I'd have to change the settings so that the story is good, and then when I go back into the MP, they're messed up again.
