Has the internet saved flight simming?

With the advent of pay to download, has it saved simming as small developers can now cut out the publishers and associated costs of releasing on a physical disk?

Seems to me theres been a resurgence in flight simulators recently! Even hyper lobbies more populated than it was a couple of years ago.

Agree 100% Not only flight simming but other niche games like *ahem* naval sims and mods. Not only Silent hunter but some other naval and land wargames I've played.
