Ok, I'm currently just so frustrated with this game. Bought it hoping it would be fun, but it just pisses me off due to the fact that my army suffers heavy losses quite often.

There are some battles I do ok in, but for the most part it seems inevitable you have to fight something that just decimates your force and theres no options to not be decimated.

Are there any spells that are the best? Mostly they all seem ineffective and hardly worth casting. Plus it's so random on which spells I'm going to get, I can't count on anything.

Are there any general strategies anyone can suggest to not get your *** kicked constantly? It's on normal and all of the fights are just so vicious, and I can never seem to get enough units and the enemy player ALWAYS has 2-4 times my army strength (C2 M3 in particular).

Especially in this mission it seems no matter how well I play the initial fights, the struggle to collect resources and build up an army gets me nowhere and the enemy then pops up with 2 hereos with forces that utterly crush me.

I'm at chapter 2... found this game hard as well. But it's rather easy if you know what to do... Just have to be quick as every day counts.

I didn't much care for the spells either until I got Implosion. I think on chapter 2 mission 3.

Get the first 5 creatures for recruit as fast as possible in each town, get some, then find the Hill Fort to upgrade.

Hire a hero and give them recruitment skill when it comes up, when you level up. Station them at town to produce more.

Take the resources when you can but don't force it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If that helps...

it depends a lot which army you lead. here is some simple tactics I usualy use:

in the first turn let most of your units wait for the enemy ground units to take their turn (if they are not fast enough to reach you in one turn, and the enemy shooters will do half or even less damage on you from the far distance). dont send only one stack on the other side alone, becasue all enemy troops will attack it. it is reasonable only to prevent strong missile units to shoot.

cast slow, haste, bless or curse. cast blind, berserk or puppet master on the strongest enemy stack or the stack the can do the most damage or is most dangerous for you. mass expert forgetfullness is excelent not only to disable enemy shooters but to avoid retaliation strikes on your attacks. chain focus on one stack until you dissable it in great degree.

play aggresive on the world map, collect all resources and try to use them for the basic level dwellings (not upgraded), citadel and castle. usualy I have all dwelling to 6th level build to the end of the 2nd week or the beggining of the third week (with citadel or if I am lucky with castle). the real game in the campaign begins on the third week, than you are strong enough for creeping and exploration far from your castle. try to flag some enemy mines and try to take one enemy castle.

dont take magical perks that depend on spells that you dont have, if you are not sure you can learn the corresponing spells. if you play in campaign take them, you will learn all spells at least in the 3d mission. or first build your mage guild and see what is in there.

Mackster I would recommend playing several different multiplayer maps where the objective is just kill them all. Play with all 6 different factions. After you do that you will know the strengths and weaknesses and what some of the skills do.

I did this and found the campaigns easier because of this.
