i hope you guys can give me the benefit of your experience ? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

firstly my specs : P4 2.2g
1 gig memory
ati x800 pro
lex bn645 mobo
xp home sp1 and 2

i have latest drivers , updated bios on card and have disabled v-sync.

running game with medium settings at 1024x , i have experimented with reducing details and other settings but still it averages 20fps.

this is after a restart with all non esential programs closed , antivirus off etc.

i would be happy with a steady 25fps somehow so long as i do not need to reduce quality too much more, so i wondered if you can help me squeeze a bit more out !!

thanks guys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It could be the fact that your processor is a P4 and only has 2.2GHz, maybe in the future get a AMD 64 processor, but then you would have to get a new MOBO.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifthanks for your reply , yes i dreaded this being the case as adjusting settings made little diffence and the processor is doing so much work when the VGA is sitting with its feet up doing nothing ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

is there anything i can do to improve matters till i get some money together ?

just a few more fps will make a little more bearable until i get some cash !

thanks again for your help http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Exit out of any programs before you play, ummm... do you have VSYNC on or off??

v-sync is off , other card settings i changed from quality to performance.

i play game after a restart and all non essential programs are stopped , i think there are maybe only 10 processes left running , antivirus is off and i am not online either.
no screensaver is on.

is there a way to make the VGA do more work and the P4 less ? is that the main issue ?

i have upgraded almost everything except the mobo and chip so i think my ''turd polishing'' days are numbered and need to get a 64bit fast ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I don't know if NVIDIA has an Application Preference setting in their 3d options like ATI but if they do, try checking that. I was changing alot of things ingame trying to get rid of my horrible fps and I had forgotten that I used my custom settings in my vid drivers to override the game settings. As soon as I checked those boxes, my fps shot up.
