is it just me or do the weapon models/character's hands completely lack anti-aliasing?

I think you are exactly right. Lets hope that they just didnt have that option set for those set of screens otherwise without AA its going to look like ****...

The screens look all too grainy and the lightning effects are imho a lil bit exaggerated (sun reflection off the walls).
It also seems that most of the object are made of the same material (e.g. the traffic light seems to be made of stone like the surrounding buildings) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

I hope you can change the ret color like in original GR.

remeber how the movie Traffic portraied the events in Mexico in the same manner? BHD had a similar effect as well...

i think those two have affected the devs' judgement on texturing the maps just a little bit...

The compass/threat indicator could use some work, its too big and the light neon blue color looks Haloish to me, for the rest the pics are too grainy and i would like to actually see colors and textures http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif.

These pics that IGN find always to me look like **** any way.

You might see the same ones a week later on UBI and they look just fine.

So called exclusive shots are not always the best.

the HUD is ****, it needs to be more compact. I dont want to look at other ends of the screen to find vital information and by the time i see it im dead.

The textures look really washed out and weird. Texture quality is really bad... It doesnt even look like a rendered in-game image. More like a painting or something lol

they really have to show some footage, we cant really tell with just screens anymore.

If you play NFSMW, you will know what Im talking about. Take a look at the DEMO, just for check the grafics. I know its not the same engine and bla bla bla, but try to imagine a shooting game there and not a race game. Maybe Im wrong but thats what I felt when I saw GRAWâ´s screeshots.

SG_Devil is thinking on another plane to the rest of us me thinks - I dont get it either, but thats aight.

Fubarnz, your comment on SS4, if the sun is coming from top right as you suggest, then the shadows shoud fall to the left as they do.

The SS are very disappointing - looks like theyve used 4 tetures to render everything - lol.

But Im sure they're Alpha build SS, and the enhancements for the Beta and onwards will be much better.

Cant wait for the demo, when we'll really find out what we're getting. I have a lot of confidence in GRIN.

B

correct but look at palm tree ,there is no sun on it at all
compare it to the lamp post on right, u can clearly see sun light on the right side off it

now look at the 2 wooden window shutters on building, one has sun light on it and other doesnt

well i dont want to argue with you, but I see light on the right of both the lamp and the palm tree.

in fact the way that engines work it will/should always render light on any object where the sun comes from and cast a shadow on the opposite side. it seems to me to be doing that.

as for the window shutters, i can only imagine that a different texture is being used for each shutter, maybe theyre trialling different textures in this stage of game development. otherwise, im not sure why it would be like that.

did some thinking about this then came back to unreal ed static mesh lighting
the light scale is all wrong, yes there is faint light but compared to rest of scene its too dark and same with shutter

as with engnes ive played with RS,GR unrealed (ut2004/2003/RvS),HL2 You can change the amount of light effect on any object/texture and to me this looks like they havnt set up the properties up correctly yet
this is where in house beta testing picks them up

maybe screens are with gloom, because they looks more like gloom effect, not hdr (too yellish)

i've seen several screenshots for games that looked a lot worse in the pic than it did on my system. They could just be running it at lower settings. Besides, even if the game itself doesn't have the AA setting in it, you can always set your hardware to do it anyways.
