Co-Op only available through xbox live?

Okay, stupidest thing ever about the game. I am a die hard Splinter Cell fan but it's disappointing to find out that co-op is only available with a subscription to live. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gifI was really looking forward to playing with my husband. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gifDoes anyone know if this is a glitch? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gifWe played CT co-op directly from the console.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

That's odd, I can play the co-op mode on my console with my friends but need the live to play the vs. mode.

I bought the game thinking we could but cannot, very disappointing.

Split screen vs. mode would have been a great idea.

No it wouldn't. Splinter Cell is about stealth, about not knowing where your enemy is. With splitscreen you can just look if your enemy is sneaking up on you. Even if you don't want to, you still see it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
