View Full Version : Liches and vampiers in HoMM VI different from those in HoMM V?

I've noticed that the descriptions for Liches and Vampiers in HoMM VI differs from those in HoMM V. The liches in HoMM VI are described as Necromancers that have become undead, while in HoMM V they're described as just undead mages (technically the same thing as an undead Necromancer, though). As for the vampires, the ones in HoMM VI are said to have petrified internal organs, while those in HoMM V have "empty bodies" (which I interpret as "organless bodies"). Another detail is that HoMM VI describes them as being transformed Liches, while HoMM V describes them as transformed Necromancers. So the question is: are they the same (with slightly different descriptions), are they different (there are 400 years between the games; much could have happened during those centuries) or is it a retcon?

I know this topic might seem nerdy and irrelevant, but I'm so interested in the lore of Ashan that I thought it was worth mentioning.

I think the liches are the same, since the necromancers are also just a different kind of mage.
The vampires may have "evolved" over the years,so it is in my opinion hard to tell if they are the same or not,but either way,I don't think that it matters
