I have a NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GT video card, a acer p221w monitor.
I have watched at least one 3D movie on it (journey to the center of the earth), so i know it at least works with movies.
I went into options and tried seting up the options but the closest ive gotten to working is a distorted picture. I have a pair of old 3D glasses and a pair of REAL 3D glasses but none got rid of the distortedness.
Can I use what i have to get this to work right?
Is there a driver or somehting that would help?

You need a special moniter for 3D in games, your moniter needs a refresh rate of atleast 120 mhz, and glasses that go along with that moniter.

I thought I remember reading the game supports anaglyph method... if that's the case it will work on any monitor. However, I would probably have a brain meltdown if I had to play a game for over 15 min with red/blue lenses on each eye.
The real 3D method you will need, at the very least, a CRT monitor and nVidia 3D Vision and you can play in 3D on PC. It's the cheapest method for true 3D. I got a CRT for free (75 hz or higher works) and got nVidia 3D Vision ($200) and I'm all set.

Hi
I have not seen any anaglyph mode in James Cameron's AVATAR : the game. So the majenta/green glasses that you used for the movie Journey to the center of the earth will not work with the game.
RealD Cinema glasses require special displays to work. They will never work with your current monitor.
The cheapest way to get 3D with James Cameron's avatar is using a CRT monitor with edimensionnal shutter glasses. But quality is relatively poor, and it is a complicated solution that requires a lot of software and technical knowledge to work.
The cheapest solution currently available that i can reasonably recommand is to get a 19" or 22" Zalman Trimon monitor (about 100~200€ depending on size and shop). Tis is the display that I have and use everyday.
It comes with included glasses, compatible with RealD Cinema glasses (although not as good quality as the Zalman glasses included with the monitor).
This monitor is also the most compatible solution with game 3D drivers (they transform your usual games into 3D with more or less success depending on the game and driver).
This monitor works with the nvidia driver, the iZ3D driver and DDD-Tridef drivers. (work with any graphics card)
The nvidia Geforce 3D vision glasses do offer better visual quality but they are more expansive : the glasses cost roughly the same but require special new displays (forget about CRTs, they aren't worth the investment anymore)
And they are proprietary to nvidia, so when you'll change your graphics card, you won't be able to use ATI GPUs with them.

^ CRT image quality is still one of the best for consumer electronics. Sure I'd rather have a 3D LCD, but for free... a CRT image quality is on-par with those $200-$300 LCDs. I literally only spent $200 on the nvidia 3D vision glasses and got a free CRT (they are everywhere, no one wants them) and I was instantly 3D ready.
The money I saved on my monitor is going towards a 3D-Ready HD projector from either Acer or Optoma as both are releasing entry level HD 3D projectors for under $500 or $700, and I can use my same glasses.

I consider using the nvidia glasses on a CRT or on the currently available 120Hz monitors overpriced considering the quality is lower than the Zalman monitor (maybe better resolution but way more ghosting)
If you're going for the DLP projector route then the nvidia glasses are the best quality for the money. It's the good way to go but then the final bill isn't exactly cheap http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
At the moment the only thing better would be a full Dual Head polarized projection system but that's much much more expansive.

U can play 3D with anaglyph glasses!
U have to install iZ3D software and use anaglyph mode - its free.
Its working with many games.
Its no so good 3D like TV 3D or LCD 3D but IS!
