Who still plays around with the Xisle tech demo?

I remember when I first found this in 2001. It was one of the most awesome 3d Technical demos around, and once again no one had heard of it or Crytek! I had a geforce3 with a T'bird 1.2Ghz and it ran a treat, awesome stuff, bumpmapped dinosaurs, perfect water reflections, the works!
A few months ago I started digging through my CDR archives looking for it and eventually found it. The idea was that playing around with this would give me a little taste of what to expect from Farcry. I know that this tech demo does not reflect the full potential of what Farcry offers but thought is may offer some Anticipation relief!
After install, I set up all the usual parameters, res, windowed blah blah, press the run button and " this demonstration only works in conjunction with Geforce cards",
Aarrgghhh! ATI cards are not supported............... I was gutted! big time.
Oh well, so that isn't going to happen now, anyone know if there is an ATI wrapper for this tech demo? I guess not.

Anyhow, for those of you who do have a Geforce based card, do you still play this demo ? Does it fortify your desire for Farcry or have no impact?
Because I have not played it for such a long time I have no idea what the outcome will be. Could it be recommended to Farcry junkies who have never tried the Tech demo before?
Now I am "tech demoless", just my luck.
Now I have to go back and watch the AVI's instead... again and again.

I'm just downloading it now for the first time. I've got a GeForce based card so it should work. Don't expected much of it (still don't). It's just not right to play a tech-demo when you should be playing the real one!

I should take it all back.
To answer your question: it makes the pain even harder!
It's great. It has the best visuals I've ever seen! Too bad I can't post some screens I just made!
Man the CRYEngine is the best! Trees are fine too, btw.

It's 42 MB and you can download it at www.farcryhq.com (http://www.farcryhq.com).
I already forgot the direct link. There are two of them. But the second seems not as good.

Its pretty cool just to walk around and stuff, but theres not much to 'play' ya know. I got a GF3 right now and it ran fine, although Far Cry will need more I'm sure as they'll be more going on. And think of all the additions they've made in 2 years since that tech demo was released!

I try to do, what I can do, when I can do it.

Where is this?

I found some tech demo with dinosaurs and all it was, was the camera was zooming around and that was it.
I couldn't do anything.

The demo is pretty sweet. Runs flawlessly on my comp( P4 1.7Ghz, 256MB DDR-SDRAM and Geforce 3 64mb). It not alot to do though. Run around and look at dinosaurs http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Although you can almost imagen bullets flying around your head http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

SIDE NOTE: Am i the only you who thinks it's really neat when the butterflies fly up and form CRYTEK when you press Esc?

Look, is this normal on a GeForce 2 Pro?
X-Isle tech demo 2
1280x1024x32
Full Screen
No V-Sync
Alternative lightning for bumpmapping
Realtime effects.

Result in:
2.000.000 Frames/sec
Min FPS=17

Average FPS=25

It's the first demo on www.farcryhq.com, (http://www.farcryhq.com,) it's 46 MB.
When you open it you choose intercative instead of the defwult fly-by and there you go.

Btw. those butterflies say "Crytek", and then "NVidia" and then "Cool!". Those guys have got sense for humor. I hope they put some good humor in the game too.

If the demo showed off AI and what's in the full game maybe yes it would ease the pain but seeming it's not a full resemblance probably not, i should go see it for myself,Hmmmm.
