Obviously they're doing it turn-based. Really no need for the poll!

Turn-based. I don't like realtime games, but I like Heroeshttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

If the purpose of this is to "determine" whether or not the game will be RTS or TBS, this poll is unnecessary.

HoMM5 will be turn based.

I prefer real time games to turn based, but there are enough real time games out that more is not needed. The Heroes series is really the only good turn-based strategy you can find though, they need to stick with turn-based. There is a market for both and the Heroes series dominates the turn-based market(as long as they don't screw up again like with H4)

There is a difference between the "real-time" of war craft and Command and Conquer, and the "real-time" of a series like Ogre Battle. Turn Based is fun, no doubt about it. But Multiplayer turn-based stinks. Armies don't take turns like in chess, they are constantly reacting to what the opponent is doing. It would make the game more realistic and more strategic. Is there another example besides Ogre battle for what I am talking about? I would like to play it.

Definately turn-based (and this is what HOMM V is going to be fortunately) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Itâ´s much more fun and challenging not to mention diversive, creating tactics in a turn based mode, especially playing in hotseat when you can use your long..er, thoughtful! turns as one tactical weapon to make your opponents nervous (and more mistake-ready at the same time). At least for me some of the fun is just comment the lenght of our turns or tu hurry up friends to make their moves faster http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Real-time fans wait for the next Might and Magic game (which, I wish, keeps the turn-based mode also as an option) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

They both have their advantages, there's been some excellent games representing both approaches to strategy, I honestly couldn't say that I like one better than the other. Of course Heroes of Might and Magic couldn't be made into an RTS without transforming it into a completely different game in need of a different name. I think this has always been better understood by the designers than a lot of people realize.

I like real-time better, but Heroes should of course be turin-based.

Why not a mixture?
Somthing like a real-time for the strategie map, every players give the mouvement/consign, and there are made in a preset order in a 'only-view turn' (player's 1 heroes moves, then players'2 heroes move...). Thats meen if a player's 1 heroes encounter a players 2 heroes (or the reverse) the 'only-view turn' paused, and a turn-based battle grid appears. after the battle ,the 'only-view turn' begins again with the remain of the mouve/build

But the the battle grid turn-based should be imperatively keep.

Keep it TBS, RTS has its charms but not nearly as much as those of TBS...

PEOPL, what's wrong with RealTime aren't they more dinamic than TurnBase, ex?What is TurnBase more superior whit, more time to think but less dinamic action???

Homm is per se, turn based. Who'd want chess real time, bloody mess I say^_^ Let Red Alert be real time and let heroes shine in it's, superior, turn based style^_^

personal opinion and i will probably need Fire Shield, but here it goes:

Turn Based: more strategy, more tactics, more relaxed "yeah, will finish that turn when he get back from coffee"

Real Time: less strategy, more "who is faster with the mouse" you rarely have time to appreciate the various units

of course both styles are good and we know HoMM5 will be TBS, so no worries...

I play Diablo, and I have played the HoMM since the second game. I know all others has been turn-based but there was talk about real-time gameplay earlier and I had no idea wether they had confirmed it or not.

Mmmmm... I have a theory. Maybe it is because everybody is fan of a turn-based strategy series?

Nah, that would be too simple http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Real-time is just plain criminal for a game like this. It'll cause permanent injuries because of the repetitive clicking.

Weren't they talking about some kind of simultaneous turn system, a la CivIII? Would this be a good enough mix of Real Time to please the minority??

Heroes is and will always be a Turn Based game, as it should be...however, there's no reason not to make a separate Might & Magic RTS, eh? Just don't call it "Heroes", heheh...

Slayer-D: I hope you meant what people like in general as it's a "of course" that Heroes are going to be turnbased....

The simultaneous turns that they plan to implement is to speed up the beginning. It's been done in Age of Wonders II and it was good. And just because something isn't turnbased doesn't mean that it's a friggin RTS!

Alderbransch: Almost never seen an admin post in his forums ^^ I guess that you're the webdesigner and also takes care of UbiSofts forums.

real time has ruined the game industry and the fun factor. Turn-based gameplay is the best.

That's a concept they're trying for the beginning of the game to speed things up. My guess is for the first 10 turns or something like that. Then the game goes back to traditional turn base for the remainder of the game.

It does kind of feel like real-time if you play on 1 min turns though hehe
