View Full Version : Recommended loadouts for your team?

I took the general advice in that the default loadouts are ok - the sniper guy is ok in the background with that ONE lethal .50 cal shot when necessary.
Recently I have been quite successful with my guy (Scott Mitchell) using a silenced SCAR 5.56 or XM8 both with scope and silencer. I carry the Zeus. 2ndary weapon is whatever.
My other guys all use the SCAR 5.56 or XM8 w/ silencer, thumper and scope. And a Zeus.
I am scared I'll come across a tank or chopper I need to take down.
Often I my 2nd guy will take the M249 SAW + spare mags for cover.
For some reason I've found silenced weapons to be good - it adds the element of surprise and I get a lot of one shot kills.
My guys after good with the grenade launcher especially to flush out snipers.
Never use the MRC and I do not need the SCAR 7.62 any more.

i usually have everyone on the team carrying suppressed scar-Ls with grenade launchers and scopes and atleast 2 carrying the zeus whenever its available, the rest carry extra grenades for the launchers.
sometimes i have 2-3 carry the mk48 and have them go terminator while i pick off any survivers from a far.
whats a thumper? the rabbit from bambi?(lol i cant believe i still remember that cartoon).

the thumper is the 40mm grenade laucher.
It makes a "thump" sound when launched.

Has anyone ever tried the team not with their default weapons. Brown with the sniper, Kirland with the MG and Allen with a semi?

I found silencers to be quite ineffective.
Enemies can hear you even with the MP5 silenced during the night.
I will longer use them, even if they worked, I don't need them.

It is hard to decide what weapons are good for who since we do not know how the skills are proportioned.
In GR at least you can give points after missions that improve attributes.
In AW who knows?
I also do not know how the silencer and front grip improves, lethality, accuracy, handling etc.???

I noticed the front grip lessens accuracy not improves it. I think it only helps when you shoot from the hip and/or on auto, not when your using the scope.

Seeing as the AI are pretty much braindead, I just assign them the only task that is a major pain for me when I first started playing the game:
Spotting and taking out snipers. Especially on night missions with lots of foliage.
Just have them follow me around, and if I get shot at, I take cover, pause, and they eventually find their targets.
Either that or they'll stand around like idiots and get shot at until they die, while their squadmates stare at a wall. The thought of suppressing or shooting back at the sniper nowhere on their minds.
As for the silencers, they do no such thing. Because shooting someone, no matter from what direction, will result in them doing a complete 180 if they have to to shoot you. The only use that thing has is in multiplayer where it suppresses the muzzle flash.

3 snipers with extra ammo.
They kill every second shot, and they don't suppress the enemy.
I like my enemies dead not suppressed.
Then I take a 5.56 rifle with all the trimmings, I find silencers reduce the range at which enemies hear you, and hence the number of enemies that respond. I find the grenade launcher is only occaisonally useful, when I have the jump on a patrol all bunched up together.
5.56 = no ammo worries.
I equip the Mp5sd with extra ammo and use that as a preference.
When I shoot people, less enemies shoot back.
If I use the loud guns I attract wandering patrols and things.
The silenced rifles aren't very silent, but since they still kill, who cares? I use them for sharpshooting and blitzing.
I didn't like the stealth play at first, I couldn't see it working, now I do. AI response is governed by range vs. weapon volume

That's an interesting tactic, baff--I think I'll try it next time! Unlike some posts I've read, I think the snipers do a great job in neutralizing enemies. Usually when that big .50cal goes off, someone has died!

very interesting tactic there!
I will certainly used three snipers and see what happens.
I would love to use the sniper however I don't like bolt action single shots and the 2ndary weapon ain't much chop.

I think I want to experiment with giving everyone only a pistol and extra grenades. Maybe I can figure out how the AI works... or just grenades. It'd be interesting to see what they look like and do in the chopper "naked"

if only you could choose not to equipt a primary weapon...

Just give them all SCAR-H with silencer and GL, they won't be able to hit a damn thing and will be on their backup weapon in no time.

imo that wont work. the bots are just as accurate with the scar-h as they are with the scar-l. they fire in short bursts and wont run out of ammo for quite a while. unless theres over 150 enemies dont count on them all going out of ammo.

If that doesn't work, then just kill two of your teammates and have one do all the work himself. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
(You'll probably have to do a lot of suppressing to make sure he doesn't get killed.)
Or give him a sniper rifle. That's 20 shots only.
Try Quarterback, that one has a pretty long section before you get a supply drop.

On most missions, 3 SAW's and Allen as a sniper. On the solo missions, I use the sniper and the heavy sub-machinegun. On the last mission, Allen and I with the sniper and G18 pistols, extra sniper ammo, and the other two with the SAW.
The SAW provides enormous firepower and very little recoil. This great in so, so many circumstances. The SAW also makes mincemeat of the HAVOCS, making the ZEUS redundant.
