A CoD Primer: A 109 & Spitfire comparison

I was messing around on Utube (as I normaly do) and came across this interesting Doco.
It compares the Spitfire Vs 109 from not only a spec point of view in performance, but also pilot handling and mechanical considerations as well.
Quite an interesting Doco, and loaded with heaps of authentic aerial footage from both sides.

I thought that the Pilot was a bit biased against the 109 from a pilots point of view, but then again... to see him squashed inside the cockpit... lol.
Anyway, some very interesting facts in this...

Another 50+ pager started on old material that's been discussed to death years ago. You'd think it'd be stretched so far by now you'd need to strap a 10 foot 2x4 across your back to keep from falling in.

I loved IL-2 when it first came out... I was part of an online squad that migrated from EAW and before that RB3D. I have allways loved my flightsims. Time is somewhat limited these days, so have spent most of my free time with Rise of Flight...which is just sheer awesomeness and for a bit of electronic kick DCS BS (Russian Helo's)
I hope that CoD can follow on my flightsim enthusiasm... and to lead the sales agents to, at least pull their colective fingure out to release a boxed version (and collectors) in NZ/AUS

You mean British pilot, isn't?

It's interesting, but the guy didn't flown the planes in combat (he is a comtemporany pilot, of course), and we also have to keep an eye open about this kind of evaluation of Axis planes in channels like the Discovery.

Present a German view at least together would be much more interesting, especially because this documentary looks to be from the '80s were many of the guys like Galland were still alive.

My point in say this was because in another topic in the Sturmovik forum, other contemporany pilot made his evaluation of the 109 and someone posted a lot of positive information by the LW pilots. This is of course can be applied to the Spitfire as well.

I sat in on a test pilot webinar Monday night that discussed the Hurricane, the Spitfire and the 109 9having flown all three).

I found the test pilot's comments on the 109 hilarious - that it was so unstable in yaw that the tail was only at the back of the aircraft because that's where you put it. He explained that the 109 was very slick, and that was the reason for its instability - but that slickness allowed it to leave combat at will as neither the Spit or especially the hurricane could follow it because they more draggy.
