Each time i start up from dust it goes through the patcher, but when I press play the game crashes and a message pops up saying From_Dust.exe has stopped working, Does anyone know how to fix this.

I'm getting the same problem. So basically a repeat of the question. Does anyone know how to fix this ? I basically don't even get a chance to even see any part of the game because windows just makes it stop working.

I am having the exact same problem aswell, it gets through two advert things at the start and it crashes immediately after that, it says From_Dust.exe has stop working. Hopefully someone can help. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

The difference for me is that it was working before, then I had quit the game to do something else and when started again, FC :/
This game is so buggy that it hurts.

If you have an integrated Intel videocard, give up; and quietly weep if someone told you it was meant for gaming, because you got scammed. You can't run it, end of story.
There are several things you can try:
Run as admin. rightclick on from_dust.exe and select run as admin. Actually, where it concerns Vista or W7, this is generally the solution to pretty much everything.
The fix on the scene is to disable sync save games. In the launcher, under settings. (Yes, even on legal ones. Also solves the 'ocean background' menu bug).
Add the game folder to your antivirus exeption.
Verify the game files in the steam launcher if you're using steam.
Update your videocard drivers. Yes i know we're all tired of hearing this by now. For some, it worked.
Uninstall ubisoft game launcher, delete the folder of it as well, and then reinstall it using UbisoftGameLauncherInstaller.exe from the game's folder.
Install the game onto the same drive as windows. Installing it on another drive seems to cause issues.

<STRIKE>When will be released hotfix?</STRIKE>
Problem solved for me: just force usage of ATI videocard instead Intel.

For those of you with only an Intel videocard:
Stop defending it. You are wasting your and our time. And please stop using games that work on 5 year old netbooks as an argument as to how good the card is.
This game officially does not work on an Intel card. It doesn't care if other games work.

I just got this on steam special, and it is not starting for me either. I do not have it on my main (windows) hard disk. I do have a nice ATI ~4575 card. Desktop computer. Windows 7.
Having same problems. Running in admin mode does not help

Exact same issue.
Loads up, plays the PEGI warning, then the ubisoft logo, then CRASH.
There's very little online that helps. everyone is complaining about the forced online, which isn't an issue now.
