Hey Guys and Gals

I am fairly new to this community. I love making maps. I am a bit of a newbie but I am confident in my map making abilities. I make maps because they are fun to make, and I love to see people's reactions while playing them. I also have little hidden easter eggs in each one of them... they are well hidden though.

Anyway, my first map. CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM ONLY PLEASE!!

Lakeside: A small size map that can support 12-16 players, TDM or CTD. It may not be big but I jammed a lot into it. There are two bases on the side of a lake, UFLL and APR of course.

There are three mini islands out on the lake, two of which have guard towers. Each base has two cars and a boat. You can either take the rugged terrain or attempt to enter the enemy base by boat.

In each base there are a few water towers conveniently located, and a few sandbags/turrets guarding the road. Either way, if you have a good number of players it will be difficult to make it into the enemies base.

Thats essentially it for the first map. I spent quite a few hours on it.

The second map, Water War (Again, constructive criticism please)

Water War is well, a water based map. It supports 12-16 players and all modes but its true purpose is for uprising. There are five islands:

2 Big Island Holding bases. Each base has a main building, two watchtowers, a fishing hut, a dock and three boats.

3 Small Islands. Each with a watch tower.

The goal is simple for uprising, capture the three small islands. This is another difficult map, there is not much too it. On each island you have to get to the top of the water tower. You also have to watch out of sniper fire and the explosive barrels placed in the water.

I would post screen shots, but I have no clue how to since I have the x-box 360 version. I am going to keep making maps, constructive criticism only please. I want to improve my craft, and I am more then willing to take advice from those with more experience.

Jungle Rumble:

This is my third map and by far my best. This map holds 12-16 players and is inteded for both TDM and CTD.

UFLL and the APR are divided on the map. Quite literally, you need to take one of two bridges, one is more open, the other is more secluded. You cannot drive through the secluded pass, only walk.

I spent HOURS adding every single detail I could. It has a light jungle setting, and unlike my other maps there are a lot of buildings. On route to either the UFLL or APR base you will catch a small glimse of some down trotted homes, some partially destroyed from the conflict.

There are a few easter eggs in this one, and one really tough one to get to, in fact it took me an hour along just to set up this easter egg.

You will also find the roads go... well all over the place. The path is really bumpy, so you can't just run through to the enemy base, you need to be careful.

Over all this map took me about 10 hours to complete. So make sure to stop, and look at the beauty.

Constructive Criticism only please.

Hi Scott! I'll try and check out your maps soon and post some feedback for ya.

As for taking pics: I'm in the same boat. I'm not sure what your set-up is, but I have an LCD television and a digital camera. I don't know if you have seen any of my map threads here, but my pics turned out pretty good, actually. With CRTs, screen-shot quality seems to not be so great.

Anyway, I'll post some thoughts on your maps a little later.

Added a new map. Jungle Rumble, I am really proud of this map.

Edit: Spent another hour on this map (Brining it up to about 11 hours). Fixed some minor environmental details and added a few things I meant to add but forgot. Its good to go http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Updates:

Jungle Rumble - I spent another hour polishing Jungle Rumble. It looks a lot better. I also fixed a few things, its about as polished as it is going to get for now. If you have any suggestions on what I should add or remove please let me know.

Lakeside - Lakeside v2 will be ready soon. I have been spending a lot of time polishing the map. I have completely re-textured the entire map, it now has a jungle setting, rather then a jungle/savanna mixture.

I also added a TON of few buildings to the map. I felt there was a lot of wasted space, so I filled that wasted space. I also relocated the Diamonds on CTD and I added Uprising. You can now capture points in the new areas of the map.

Over all I have spent hours on v2. Lakeside v2 should be ready soon.

Water War: I did pretty much the same thing I did with lakeside and did it to Water War. It now has more of a jungle setting, I also spent time re-texturing and I added a lot more detail.

I will be deleting the old Water War map. The map on its own is good and challenging, but I was not satisfied with how it looked. So we are still on Water War v1, I will release it when I publish Lakeside v2.

I took a look at your maps, scott.

I like your texture blending...that's an important detail that often gets overlooked (in fact I forgot about it in the beta version of a map I just finished today!).

All 3 maps are pretty large. It seems there will be a fair amount of time spent getting from place to place. Kepp in mind that it is not necessary to allow players access to the whole square of land available. In fact I noticed you did not use the playable zone tool. It's a really useful tool to keep players where you want them to be without having to create natural barriers that might not look so good (like the land edges you put on Water War and Lakeside).

You also have an ammo crate floating in midair! It's about 50 feet off the ground. I think it was Lakeside.

There is a lot of potential in all 3 of these maps though, so keep at it! And good luck.

Oh damn! Where is that ammo crate?

The map itself is small. I always use a small setting when I make my maps. Thanks for the compliments, I will try to work out the playable zone issue.
