Which one of these two Splinter Cell Conviction Coop characters, do you prefer more?

I know we haven't played them yet, but, who looks the most interesting, fits your personality, who do you think is the coolest, Archer, or Kestrel?

Please leave a brief post saying why!

I voted Archer just because I like how his whole background was more intellectual based and then he was taken into 3E. Kestrel's Background fits my Dad more which is who he will be playing as.

Yeah most of the time it works out, but obviously our skill levels are different. Recently on the new Army of Two, the checkpoints give you your kills and I had like 42 to his 13 but he is getting there, he plays very casually. It is rare a game catches his interest but he is liking the look of Splinter Cell

ARCHER!!!
b/c he has absolutely no experience as a legitimate field operative! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Kestrel

Archer seems like a hotshot WITHOUT the backstory to match. A desk Jockey turned commando? Who does he think he is? Grimsdottir?

Kestrel is more methodical, experienced, and better trained (at least that's the impression I get). Personality wise his is what I'd rather have for this kind of work.

Archer. because he's a american "splinter cell" that I'm used to not a unknown voron agent that I know nothing about.

Well, my friend called dibs on Kestrel before I could. So I might as well play with Archer. Judging from the co-op videos, Archer acts like some hot shot. Kestrel seems like he is very calm, and strategic. I may be wrong, but that's what I think.

I'd choose Archer simply because he's a SC agent with the proper outfit and look, as opposed to some Jack Bauer wannabe or Russian KGB beyotch!!!

Agreed... I do like Sam's sweater but I would rather see a Splinter Cell in a Splinter Cell outfit.

I prefer Kestrel because he has a better backstory, even if it is a little clichéd. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Archer is just some NSA bureaucrat punk who got bored of his desk job and became a splinter cell after only eighteen months of training with no previous military background. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Kestrel...he is more like a soldier, and less like highschool prom king archer...

Kestrel because he is more like Sam. He is a Agent, and the guys of 3E could made him to a Splinter Cell easily. He is much more experienced and his back story is more believeable then the story from Archer. I could just imagine that Kestrel makes some dark jokes/ have a dark homour. A serious man.

Personally I hate the "hotshot" archetype when it comes to a two-man mechanic, simply because they are always cracking off dumb jokes that nobody likes like "I feel bad for that...almost". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sleepzzz.gif

I'll take a calm dude like Kestral over a guy like Archer any day.

Kestrel.

Archer is a wet-behind-the-ears desk jockey with little field experience. He'll be best utilized as LKP bait while Kestrel does the take-down.

Kestrel because I like his call sign more than Archer, also my main ship in a game called EVE is a variation of the "Kestrel" ship called a "Manticore"

but I think I can identify a bit better with Archer ; someone who still needs to prove himself.

Archer, because he reminds me of Jack Ryan... sort of LOL. He's an analyst who is also good on the field... Weird mix that you rarely find.

id say Kestral because he's more of a BAMF than archer is. Archer is supposed to be arrogant and stupid while Kestral is more experianced and controlled. I like both of them but im just leaning over to Kestral a little bit.

no but eight month later he is a splinter cell but he is still rookie now in conviction they say he is one of the best operatives he is almost sam fisher leevel look at this
(Redding points out a few things that have been tweaked for Conviction's co-op, compared to previous Splinter Cell installments and even the single-player. "Unlike in Chaos Theory, these are seasoned spies, not rookies, so their abilities are closer to Sam Fisher's level," is one example) Multiplayer game director Patrick Redding quips, "If Sam is the panther, then [Archer and Kestrel] are the wolves,

logik1911

18 months isn't nearly enough time to even make it into the same ballpark as Sam Fisher. We're talking about someone with 2 DECADES of special operations and anti-terrorism experience starting w/ elite units like the Navy SEALS.

J Saint777
02-22-2010, 08:32 PM
They trained for 18 months. For all we know that was ten years ago. They have probably been in the field for more than a few years.

Ya' know, if they were real.

logik1911
02-22-2010, 08:42 PM
If Archer has been around that long, wouldn't they have mentioned his experience in the field? His bio reads as if he was in intelligence, then did his 18 months. No word on where he's been the past 10 yrs (if he's been in that long) if he's been a splinter cell that long, lol I'm sure this isn't his first mission, but I think the creators didn't have enough of a basis to make him such an elite level operator, IMHO.

Kestrel, on the other hand, has been in the military since age 18 and served in Russian counter terror units prior to his current assignment. That's way more believable.

J Saint777
02-22-2010, 08:47 PM
Classified info I guess. We probably won't ever know Archer's full service record, but frankly, it isn't all that important.

logik1911
02-22-2010, 08:53 PM
doesn't matter at all since he IS Sam, right down to the Krav Maga takedowns. The backstory is merely a formality.

When I'm playing with my friend, I'm always going to be Archer. But when it's with my brother, I say Kestrel! And I don't have anything against Archer, I just think Kestrel's cooler.

judging by the looks of the game right now, something tells me we arent gonna have Sam in SC6,
we better pick up our mind and choose from one of them quickly for the next hero.

I'll say both, and making SC6 a CELL OF TWO.

Kestrel because he seems to be the type that enjoys combat.

I dont think we would have been a cell straight off the bat in that ten year period. My guess he still dabbled in the intelligence field and when push came to shove he get to into the pack. As for the lack on information in his bio, my guess as what jsaint said is that it will be classified need to know basis.
