HoMM is a great series. It's great to play with friends etc. But i think that the best way would be HoMM on the go. But you can't really play it on a console. Until the DS. I think it would be really awesome. Anyway, i made this pic how i would imagine HoMM3 on the DS.

Basically you could use the stylus to move around the map and click on things to get info about them. If you click on a Hero you would be able to move him until you click on the Hero again.

All the info would be on the top screen and you could use the "switch" button to switch between screens. Then all thte info and buttons would be below and the game would be on the top. You can move around the map, choose a hero or a hometown, click next turn etc.

The castles could be like that you change troops and buy them on the lower screen (also you buy new buildings) and you would see your town on the top screen.

I'm not sure about battles yet, but it would surely work out.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you.

I actually hope Ubisoft notices this one and imagines how they could easily make some money..

It seems they have.
They've just announced Might and Magic Clash of Heroes for the DS.

Yeah, I noticed this. Althought it seems to be regular Might and Magic. I am more of a Heroes guy. Althought it looks more like Heroes than regular Might and Magic.

That is a very interesting. The design looks pretty solid and could definitely work.
The question is whether the DS hardware could handle it. It's maybe only 2D, but it's still very much detailed and there are a lot of little animations for a lot of things on the world map. I remember trying to run HoMM3 on a Pentium 1 that was clocked at 75mhz and it ran sluggish as hell. Considering the DS is equipped with a processor that is clocked at 67mhz, it doesn't look very promising.

Well, as a sort of comparison, seeing as I play both series on PC, the newest version of Settlers they ported to the DS was Settlers II, from way back in '97, presumably Ubi feel that later PC strategy games would need to be specially re-written, as the later games would be too much for the DS if they simply tried to port them.

Strategy games place a much higher load on the CPU than the DS might be able to handle smoothly, unless the games are re-written and simplified.

Ah man... I hoped that my post will be dismissed with a "you're crazy! sure it can handle it" kind of response http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Oh well, there's still the DSi. This thing has a processor that is twice as fast and four times more RAM. This one has a better chance, but that also means a DSi exclusive which I'm not so sure that will sell very well...
