Clearing bugs can sometimes cause more bugs, sometimes more difficult bugs.

So the numbers are not that significant, although it is a good indication of the hard work that GB are putting into clearing the bugs.

Fixes sitting at 251 currently. Unfortunately, as the number dwindles, the fixes come slower.

Which means that the text bugs are gone, the minor graphical errors are either gone or accepted as fact, and the real research begins on the stickier bugs.

But it's still good to see that number drop.

jd-scrubs
02-02-2005, 12:43 PM
Whifflebat, just because the number gets lower doesnt mean the bugs are getting harder to fix, just depends what the bug is...

They arent clearing the 'easy' bugs first and then clear the 'harder' ones later, they will clear them as they come to them, or as more are made.

krimlin077
02-02-2005, 12:58 PM
for all we know...one problem could be responsible for 50 other smaller probelms. That one problem could just be screwing alot of things up. All in good time, going on a gamble here...but i am going to say they will be down to 225 by the nights end. ( if the keep the site updated that is )

Are you guys sure that as the number goes down the slower and harder it gets? Cause that would not be good..

No that isnt correct, all depends on what the bugs are, how difficult they are to clear, and what would be the consiquence of clearing that bug. Because if the consiquence is worse than the current state, possible chance it will be left

Prime example just now of clearing bugs creating more bugs, been on 251 for a while now, now up to 253, danm those tricky bugs http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually, the easier bugs are generally fixed first. Not because the more difficult ones are being left for last, but because the harsher ones take more time. If they've got a programmer with nothing wrong in his code (or at least nothing that needs fixing this minute), (s)he will get put on the minor fixes. It's quite probabl;e that the junior member of teh team got stuck with going through the text database and correcting all the reported spelling and grammar errors while the engine and physics programmers were working on a tricky aspect of ricochets or collision detection.

Of course, gearbox hasn't labelled these things bugs. They are work items, which could mean that they're waiting on final art signoffs and other non-code related issues, all of which have to be handled as well.

Arg i thought that even when they finish all of these bugs they need to package and ship all of the games to the stores and wait an extra couple of days so probably half a week after the countdown is done it will be out. But i always hope i am wrong. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

yes finally "A GOOD SIGN" im tired of these stupid *** posts of people complaining....... this is a fan site for a game and if u dont have something good to say about the game then dont say anything cause u dont even belong here... none of us want to hear it.... and it always comes from someone who has been following that game for a week or a month, someone who has hardly followed the game..... ive been following this game since August of 04 and ive seen these topics go from good to bad to worse, i came to this site to find info, not listen to people complain about this and that and the other thing.... i dont even read half the posts posted cause its always something stupid...... and yes im sorry, that i to am complainning right now, complainning about stupid complaints, i dont like to complain... but i feel its something that needs to be said...... thank you buzz for posting some GOOD info!

When that number gets realy low we should make a appreciation thread for the devs lol.

Some games release their games with many bugs (take HL2 as a lil example, even though it wos great) im not saying BIA will be bug free but its good to see devs try hard to clear the game of bugs.

RMC.SBS
02-03-2005, 11:16 AM
Yeah,I applaud the devs for working so hard, some companys would rush the game out.
Btw are the devs working through the night,Because the numbers go down pretty regulary.

Exactly how many buggy games have you actually played? Half-Life 2 was VERY smooth with VERY few bugs.

buzz1256

Question, are these bug issues the total for every platform (PC,Xbox, ps2) or for one specific platform only? I'm just wondering since I thought they've finished the PC version ahead of the xbox and ps2 and wanted to release every platform at the sametime. I'm curious to know if it's a console or pc platform that is holding up the release.

Almost every time steam updates it is getting rid of HL2 bugs, many that were easily detectable from its release.

Dont get me wrong i love HL2, but just to stick too that ambitious release date (ambitious in regards to the state of the game at the time)
they released it with bugs, if you want i can get a list of all the bugs they have gotten rid of in HL2. lol

BIA will have bugs, but ts good to see they are getting rid of some.
