Heavily optimized code.
I'm still at a loss daily as to why my p4 2.4ghz, gig of pc2700 ram running dual channel, radeon 9700 pro machine is running the game at 800x600 and low detail settings at 30-40fps as a merc. This my good sirs, is unacceptable.

i agree. i got a barton 2400@2500mhz, equivelent to an XP 3850 or so. with a radeon 9700 pro, 1024x768 is too chunky on warehouse and other levels, 800x600 i have to pick and even then it dips down to chunky framerates.

Same here... it really needs optimizations for ATI cards.

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro and it seems to work fine for me... I've never had any serious problems, and I run fine on high quality on 1024x768. I never get any lag either. Maybe your hard drive is too small? If it's too small, or too much space is used, it can seriously impact performance.

Sounds like it might be your cards. My GEforce pwnz PT.

Pentium 4 3.0GHz @ 1024x768x32 (desktop),
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR,
1024MB of PC3200 (400MHz) DDR RAM,
Soundblaster Audigy 2 (w/ EAX).
I suffer from no stutters on "High detail", in fact, I see no differences between "Low detail" and "High detail". I've also used every configuration through the text files and maxed them. (The ones that improve performance and graphics, strangely enough).
I would like to see optimizations even still as increasing my graphics should not have increased my performance. Nor should I be forced to play a port from a console.

This is for taco and posey.
There are two things you guys should try. Both of these helped my framerate IMMENSELY.
I have a Radeon 9700 and a P4 1.5 with 512MB of memory.
*** Before you start go d/l FRAPS as it will be more accurate than eyeballing your fps. ***
*** One more thing, test out your fps in the tutorial menu, select a level or something like that. Testing fps during a match will only help the gray hairs come in. ***
1.) Turn off AF in display properties. With AF at only 4x the light rays in warehouse and other maps absolutely TANKED my fps. After turning it off I've noticed no drops in fps when these are in view on ANY map.
2.) Completely remove, reboot, then reinstall your sound drivers. Before doing this I had heavy fps hits when going full auto as a merc. After doing the above, I again see ZERO hits to my fps even after unloading a full clip of hot lead.
Hope these things help you guys!

First and foremost, thanks for the tips lonegunman http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
But as a quick question, how do you turn AF 'off'? I can set it as low as 2x with the slider, but no official 'off' button. And is this game running direct3d or opengl? Thanks again!

I have a 2200+ clocked to 2400+, 512mb ram and a 64mb GF4 Ti4800. PT runs at 45fps constantly for me at 1024x768.
The graphics options won't let me choose high (prolly my card's too old), but normal quality doesn't look any worse than my friend's high quality game with a 9600XT.

Didnt know that there are such a lot problems with ati drivers. It works fine with my nvidia. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
I think that they should make multiplayer more stable.

Optimize codes (Alot!), fix many crashes, fix ratings and bring them to PC, add friends list and keep PunkBuster busting all those cheaters and I will be unbelieveably happy http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
BTW, 30-40 fps isn't bad at all, try playing on the 10-20 I used to be http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Where's the patch? (http://www.fanta.dk/showmovie.asp?mid=D25BA5EB-48EE-4041-A4C8-1BA58CC6CDB6)

taco, set it to "Application Preference" in the control panel. Direct3d is the rendering method. Then MAKE SURE that the file %gamedir%\online\system\default.ini has LevelOfAnisotropy=1.
Anything higher and you'll see your fps tank again. The problem with this is I haven't had to use trilinear filtering for a LOOOOONG time. Get on the ball UBI, come one!
PS - Note that this does degrade texture quality at a distance (AF, duh!) but it's worth the fps in gains in MP where fps is the difference between a dead spy and a spy talking sh|t to his enemy!
